[Verizon] [KERNEL][4.0.4] LeanKernel 3.10.0 (7/2)

I have not tried the boat yet. Can you just use setcpu and leave the ROM performance settings at stock? Do the ROM performance settings have a "set on boot" option?

the ROM does have the set on boot option. when i say not "sticking" - i can actually see the options the gov/freq/volt but it never actually selects it. so set on boot won't even apply.

i would have prefered to use the ROM settings as opposed to setcpu to avoid any headaches, but i'll give it a shot.

I hear ya. I'm not an app hog hence why I ran CM7 for so long on the Inc. It cuts out so many extraneous apps with all the wonderful features built in.

It's still so early (hard to believe actually) on the development side of things with the CDMA GN it's only getting better!

How am I suppose to be using setcpu with this kernal? What is the best settings for battery life or should I just not even use setcpu?

I run the experimental and under clock min speed to 180 which us stable on my phone. I use the interactivex gov. Some have played with undervolting I don't usually mess with it tho

I really don't understand how to use set cpu and what the stuff means.

On the front page of CPU I have 350mhz and scaling interactive. With max of 1200000 and min of 350000. I have no profiles right now. My voltage is 1350,1200,920,700,350 mhz. Then it says MV current below. Anyone want to gift me a quick run through and whats a good setting for more battery life but keeping it snappy like it has been with the kernal?

You don't have to use SetCPU unless you want to change governors and tweak voltages (there is another app that can do this as well I think called No Frills ).

Are you running 1.4.0? If so test it out for 2 days without making any voltage changes except for maybe setting it to the InteractiveX governor (what I use). This will automatically disable one of the cpu cores when the screen is off. I've found that the InteractiveX governor is fickle with UV'ing. However, the Interactive governor has much more leeway.

It really is trial and error, every phone is different, and every person is different on what they consider stable. Another tip when changing voltages: do not check the box that says "set on boot" till you are safe and stable after thoroughly testing everything yourself.

To change the mV's in SetCPU open it, go to the VOL TAG tab, and make your changes. There are a plethora of posts that give you some values. I've posted one in the franco kernel thread that worked for me well with both his kernel and Lean kernel (Interactive gov) 1.2.0 check it out.

I've been on Faux's for a couple of days, gonna try out 1.5.1 with Jake's mod. (If I can get the d/l to go. Something's up with his server)

I know lol. I just started testing 1.4.0 yesterday gonna give it till Wed this week. He'll probably have 1.7.0 by then :p

I've been thinking the same thing haha... I'm actually pretty happy with 1.3.0... is it worth updating? I'm not really sure what the Linux updates will do for me.

Quick Question JBdan

Is SetCPU the only app you can use to control the settings and or use the interactive V2 governor?

Can you please sum up what Jake's mods do if you don't mind? tia

If you're happy with 1.3.0 stick to it. I don't see much difference between 1.2.0 and 1.4.0 except for one thing. 1.4.0 is slightly more responsive upon a wake up than 1.2.0 was on InteractiveX gov.

It's the only one I have ever used as it was the first one I used. Looks like jrummy has one and no frills will allow gov selection as well. I'm not sure though that no frills will allow mV control. It is free though! :D

Some ROM's have it built in (governor and frequency) like CM and iirc GUmmyNex latest ROM has this built in as well.

Yeah it took me a few tries to get 1.5.1 downloaded, if you need I can send it to you just let me know via PM, or just back out then go back in. Flashed and it works fine.

Upgrading may be a good idea for you. in 1.4.0 he updated the source for OMAP support and the linux update provides further control for undervolting so if you want to test out trying to undervolt it should be a little easier now.

Anyone have any legit battery saving voltage settings. I keep tinkering around with them. I am wondering what is working best for you guys.

Not sure if its my kernel or ROM (AOKP Milestone 1); but does anyone notice any lag immediately after waking the phone running this? When I wake it, the notification bar and icon selector are slow to respond to touch. But a few seconds afterwords, it seems smooth. Not a big deal, just wondering if anyone else notices it. I'm using Leankernel 1.5.0 and this is my first ROM/Kernel. Might switch around after a few days... I just noticed that Milestone 2 is out, so I may go ahead and update to that.

It sounds like a kernel issue, what governor are you using? Do you have any profiles set up for screen off?

I get this problem too occasionally. And it gets noticeable with under volting.

Yeah if you undervolt too much it will cause issues. Stuttering upon wake is not that bad compared to undervolting so much that your phone freezes and reboots. I've done that before. This is actually why I don't bother with undervolting anymore really the risk v reward isn't worth it to me nor is the investment of my time.

Updated

1.2.0 through 1.5.0 have been great, noticed odd battery drain issues on 1.6.0 and 1.6.1.

1.6.4 is better, but not as good as 1.5.0 and below
