[Verizon] [KERNEL][4.0.4] LeanKernel 3.10.0 (7/2)

Mercy, I just tried CM9 in a slot and I must say AOKP has me thoroughly spoiled and gratified that I hit the donate button from time to time. To me, nothing else compares in performance, options, and information in general.

Just comparing the different ROM Webb site user interface's with CM9 being the worst AOKP is very well laid out. Some others I would consider to be not very courteous with expectation of one to have came from the womb with the knowledge of how to install and what to do to prepare and such. Heh! And they have the nerve to have donate buttons.

All according to life as I see it anyway.

Horses for courses, right! :shakehands:

I backed m5 (clean install), restored my stock backup, grabbed the full leaked OTA to get the updated radio, restored m5 and everything was great until I flashed 3.3.0/LT 13.3, then my screen turned green when it booted. If I change colors in lean tweaks, it'll be good until a reboot.

Saw 3.4 was out so restored my m5 backup and flashed 3.4/LT 13.4 and the same thing. So I'm back on m5 w/o this kernel.

Anyone else have issues after updating?

I didn't use that method, waited till there was a full radio pkg posted by mwalt @ xda. When you restored that "clean" M5...did you do a full wipe prior?

Are you running the franco kernel updater app by chance? (btw it works with imo kernels as well)

Yes lots are finding the green invasion when flashing LK kernels to M5. I do not know if other kernels do the same.
I tried M5 in a Boot Manager slot and had to wipe the phone to shed it. Then tried M5 on a wiped phone and the kernel again and got the green thing again after a LK flash.

And all this after making sure the multipliers and gammas were at default values before flashing.

Back on B34 and 3.3.0 exp1 and elated. 3.4.0 took a battery hit in deep sleep so 3.3.0 is the grits for me.

see below pulled from post on rootwiki
It looks to have to do with the exp build of LK is incompatible with older CM builds.

Leankernel: Minimalistic Kernel (3.4.0, 4/29/12) - [VZW] Galaxy Nexus Development - RootzWiki - Page 986

----------------------------------------
3.4.0exp3

- colorcontrol should now be more compatible with latest cm9. (but breaks compatibility with older ROMs using older cm9 interface).
- tempcontrol "templimit" sysfs interface now reflects current temp limit always
- an experimental multi-core scheduling tweak/fix
- a small zram script fix

Emphasis added

Edited to add: there are also numerous posts about this over the last 2-3 days in this thread. Search for "color control" or "green" or anything of the sort.

Updated to M5 the other day, and then this morning to LK 3.4 exp3...and got physical heat on the phone. Then updated to the new VZW radios and boot loader....made a nandroid first...rebooted.
Running LK at 1650/230 no other adjustments to voltage or anything.
Still getting heat on the phone....love the speed and updated connectivity. But not so happy with the heat. Looking forward to an updated LK soon....

3.6.0 is out with some major updates it seems.

leanKernel v3.6.0

1) Custom SR Tuning: override default VDDMIN
2) Lowered screen voltage, original patch by ch33kybutt, tweaked for
leanKernel to be more stable
3) Wifi voltage lowered
4) Linux 3.0.31
5) Reverted an old OPP tweak that was causing intermittent issues
6) small OPP tweak
7) NL_UTF8 support
8) some OMAP and android updates
9) Avoid randomizing MAC when bootloader doesn't pass it properly.
10) gamma control (beta)

Hmm, I've been rocking the faux kernel in M5 and now b35, but the lowered screen voltage sounds interesting...if it reduces power consumption (I'd think so, less voltage == less power) and doesn't change the brightness it sounds like this could be a nice power saver! I like that gamma control is in there, too. May have to flash this sucker tonight before bed so I can gauge battery life tomorrow!

Did 3.6.0 break the proximity sensor for anyone?

I just noticed today that my phone doesn't turn off the screen while I'm in a phone call. So I loaded up "Elixer" (free in Play store) and it's showing the same reading regardless of how far I put my hand in front of the sensor. I've used this app before to test the proximity sensor just playing around, so I know it worked before.

I'm going to flash an older or different kernel to test it out in a min.

Edit: Weird, flashed Franco's M3 and it fixed it, but then I flashed LK 3.6.0 back and it worked again. I tried rebooting before I changed kernels and it didn't fix it before. Oh well, at least it's working now. Hopefully it doesn't randomly break again in the middle of the day.

How odd that is so random. Have you been in the clear since?

I got the darned color screw up with it. I had to back the Gamma all the way back. Went back home to 3.3.0 exp1.

I've just taken SS's of all my autobrightness settings and gamma/color settings. That way I always know what to tweak them back to when flashing something new :)
