Verizon Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

Well I can finally activate my phone! Yay!!!

I still haven't gotten a call from verizon saying that I could though. I've just been trying both over the phone and online every so often all day today. About a half hour ago, it finally worked!!!

So far so good. I miss the original Google setup screens though, but was able to figure out how to setup my Google account easy enough.

I've started downloading and uploading apps, however, they appear to have stopped for some reason now. I have about a dozen of them queued up but they aren't moving. Maybe I'll reboot?

Also, as a former chase bank account holder, I can agree that they do in fact suck. I'm glad I left them when I did!
 
Unfortunately they way they explained it was that the computer system will not let them do it, the rep i spoke to put me on hold and talked to both the order department for several minutes as well as their manager, she seemed like she really wanted to help but that there was nothing she could do.

I also went to the Verizon store close to my place and there was nothing they could do because they are unable to access the online orders from their system.

I will try call back again tomorrow and see if i can speak to someone different, but if the problem is with the computer system then it looks like I am really out of luck.

The good thing is I am off contract so I am free to leave but the bad part is that Sprint does not have 4g in my area yet so that limits my options.


UPDATE:
I managed to speak to a different rep who was very nice and managed to get authorization to re-order and let me keep my unlimited. So for anyone else in this situation, there is hope! Basically the re-order shows up without the unlimited data, and a note is added in the account to grant unlimited data on activation. As long as I phone in so the person can see the account note, there is no problem. The only downside is that i'm probably back of the queue but at least I can keep the unlimited :)
 
Love how they send it in MY WIFE'S NAME. Sheesh, only one adult per account it seems.


Oh and when I verified this with Fedex and they said they do not deliver early by Verizon policy. So now I am pissed and on with Verizon. I was annoyed at the 2nd day 2nd hand treatment after I had to order over the phone. Now they tell me Fedex can't do a best effort?

God I am mad.
 
I was in a Best Buy yesterday and they had an email taped to the AT&T display explaining that the ad from whenever was wrong and they didn't know when they would have the phone available.

Try calling into vzw and talk to a csr. Ask them if it shipped. Like I wrote before. Online never showed tracking or even got a email. So I tried trackibg my order through the phone and it said it shipped. So I called into a csr and confirmed and got my tracking information. Shipped 6am this morning

CSR said to me just now the 10th and no sooner.. she must not know anything.
 
OK I am really torn here over this phone. Can anyone confirm the call quality and signal. Are we looking at another cdma nexus fiasco?
 
I got a snotty lady that says I will get it the same time as everyone else on the 10th :)

I then reminded her why I called.. I ordered on the first day and I have not received shipping info when others have their device in hand already.

In defense of CSRs I really do not think they know anything other than what the screen in front of them tells them. These are call center folk and are NOT well trained folks. Until you escalate you are likely to talk to someone who came to work for the first time last week in prep for the additional traffic the S3 would generate.

Oh crap...deja vu.

I'm getting the same song and dance regarding them not being able to access the payment/credit card system. I've spoken with 2 CSRs over the phone, and went to the corp store. They have ALSO tried contacting Sales to update my card info and everytime they tell me that no one can access to make changes.

This brings up the question...Who DOES have access to the payment system??? Someone obviously has to otherwise how did any of us preorder or purchase anything from Verizon. Seems very convoluted that no one can update payment info.

Damn Verizon!

I work in a Finance Department and our bank will not accept a charge for a transaction from an account that has been declined. In other words, you cannot "swipe" or attempt to authorize a charge account that has been declined. It's in our merchant agreement. We have to instruct all employees not to attempt to re-authorize any transaction or we might be liable for the full value of the transaction. I am sure that Verizon's CSR software recognizes this rule in their algorithm.

Needless to say, it really sucks to be a lowly consumer. Be patient and try to work it out.

Some place in this very long thread someone posted another way to check your pre order status other than from the line in your email, and it had a "modify payment" are on it. I'd try there... you will have to go through this thread and locate it though.
