Verizon Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

That's weird. I would return it anyway.

Best Buy only allows full return within 14 days per Verizon's policy. From day 15-30, they allow an exchange, but the SGS3 won't be released within the 30 days. A device that is pre-release won't work for the exchange, since something has to be activated on the line or vzw will charge etf.

Verizon can place a dummy on the line if you can get by without one for a while. If not just buy a cheapy from Craigslist.

Best buy says they only allow exchange from 14-30 days because verizon requires that newly subsidized device to remain active or they chargeback full retail.

Exchange it (you get an additional 30 days from Best Buy) then exchange & get your GS3. :) might have to go to a different Best Buy. They frown upon more than 1 exchange but will reluctantly do it.

Just got a tpu case in the mail that I ordered. Came with a paper S3 inside. Now I can pretend I have the phone! But seriously, I cannot believe how thin this thing is. Thinner than the thinnest part of my Verizon Nexus by far.

I ordered last Thursday and still am getting "Expected ship date: Not available at this time"

Anyone else getting that too? Ordered the 16GB white one.

Bummed. Wife got the galaxy nexus 29 days ago from best buy, and a pre-order phone doesn't work for an exchange within day 30. She was really hoping there would be a w ay to end up with the sgs3.

Just get another line and get rid of the Nexus for your wife. Yeah, it will cost you $9.95 a month for 2 years, but it is painless and your wife can enjoy the S3.

Does anyone think Apple would tolerate the pre-order incompetence that Verizon is showing, with order dates thousands of years in the future? Jobs would have kicked ass. It is a disgrace and an insult to buyers. Verizon needs a CEO with some ba--s.

Ordered the same thing as you on Sunday (6/17.) I have the same message for the expected ship date.

I also have no expected shipping date on my order. I ordered the 16 gb white. Finished placing my order at about 7:10 am on the 6th. Hopefully that helps me get mine a bit earlier but I wouldn't bet on it. I'm hoping this is one of those things where we just look in our email and see a shipping confirmation in a week or two without even expecting it.

Or maybe they are doing it on purpose because they know people will constantly keep checking.

Just for some clarification on how pre orders used to work. When I worked for IPCS (sprint affiliate) and Verizon like 8 years ago. Verizon and Sprint both used to ship phones in batches. Don't ask me what defines a batch because I have no clue. I do know there was a total number of phones in each batch. The first batch was scheduled to ship day 1 second batch day 2 and so on. I am not sure how many batches Verizon is using or if they are even still using this method. But judging from the Ship dates I am guess they are. The first batch will be shipped on the 9th. When that batch sold out they moved onto batch number 2 and that ships out on the 10th. That's why anyone ordering now is seeing a date of the 10th. Its possible you might see another batch shipping in the 11th. I don't think it matters what batch you ordered because I believe you will get the phone by the 12th and that will be the in store launch date. I could be totally wrong about the shipping process but this is how it used to be done. If you think about the logistics of mailing out thousands of phones all on the same day would be insane. I am just guessing with the launch date here based on the shipping dates. The in-store launch could be the 9th or 10 or 11th. But the 12 is a Thursday and phone companies like Thursday launches. So i believe it would be the 12th. If anyone current employees have any feedback on this feel free to dive in and correct me. I suppose we could still some a logistical miracle and get late June or early July launch but I do no think its likely.

It probably has to do with how many orders they can process through FedEx per day. I would guess that FedEx can only handle a certain number of phones per region per day without impacting their normal business.

It's comical but looks really unprofessional. The fact that it's been ongoing for almost 2 weeks(i believe) speaks volumes. But hey, that's one hell of leadway for Verizon in guaranteeing the phone will arrive.

You guys just don't realize that Verizon is just toying with us. They are sitting in their offices reading this thread, and twirling their mustaches and laughing their asses off.

Anyone know if FedEx will leave it on your doorstep or if Verizon ships phones with signature required?

FedEx will leave it with a signed note if it's shipped requiring an indirect signature.

If it's a direct signature someone has to sign for it.

When it's actually shipped FedEx tracking will specify if it's Direct or indirect.

Wonder when we will see an actual preview of the S4 version (in particualr VZW), so we can branch out from the current delivery date and unlimited data guessing? :)

I feel resigned to the VZW version being at least two weeks later than at least two carriers and later than all.

Mobile syrup did one with the s4 and lte that Canada is getting so will be a good indicator.
