Verizon Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

You all are going to hate me, but I hope it doesn't ship 'till the 9th! I'll be out of town from the 21-28, then again from the 1-4, and one last time from the 9-12. If it ships on the 9th, I can have FedEx hold it at the station for me and pick it up there when I get back in town. If it ships on the 21st, I'm screwed. It'll go back to VZW as undeliverable.

As soon as you get a tracking number, you should be able to divert it or call customer service and tell them your situation. Like to a neighbor or a family member.

Divert it to me. I will make sure you will get it back.....eventually.

Not sure how to do that. Do you mean call FedEx? I called VZW to see about changing the shipping address, but as some here had told me, I'd have to cancel and re-order. The csr I spike with said demand was so high I'd run the risk of getting it later than the stores!

Yes, call FedEx once you get a tracking number, if it won't be a good time for you to receive it.

The way that Verizon sets their shipments up with FedEx requires them to make one delivery attempt at the address. Once they do that, you can call them with the tracking number and ask them to hold it at the station.
 
Went ahead and ordered a blue with 32Gb. Got tired of thinking about it! If I don't like it, figure I can sell it or exchange for another. And if I hate it once I see it in an AT&T store (should be there Wednesday, from what I've read on that thread), I can cancel my order.
 
I placed my preorder online a couple of days ago for the Verizon GS3, transferring an upgrade from another line (that has a dumbphone on it) to my line. I have a few questions for those who have done an upgrade transfer before, but first a few facts:

The line I'm transferring FROM has a dumbphone on it with no data plan.
My line has a Galaxy Nexus on it and is not eligible for an upgrade.
I want the GS3 on my line, and the other line will retain the dumbphone.

So when I did the upgrade transfer at verizonwireless.com, it seemed to work just fine. It switched our upgrade dates and then I was able to upgrade at the subsized price on my line. I added the GS3 to the shopping cart and was able to keep my unlimited data plan when it verified my plan and features. Yay.

However, now when I log in to my account, it shows "Waiting for activiation" on the dumbphone line, not mine. I have screenshots of the whole process as I preordered so I can prove that everything worked fine, but I'm not sure why it's showing THAT line as waiting for the upgrade.

So when I receive the GS3, will I have to first activate it on the other line and then re-activate the dumbphone, and then re-acivate the GS3 on my line? Or will I just be able to activate the GS3 on my line since I transferred the upgrade to it?

Also, when I did the preorder, it asked if I wanted to keep my current sim card, which I said yes to. So I figured when I got the phone, I would just swap the sim cad from my Galaxy Nexus to the GS3, but if I have to activate on the dumbphone line first, how will that work if they don't send me a new sim card?

Yeah, mine's one of those way into the future date with year of 2375 (something like that), LOL. Placed my order last night.

It just changed, LOL. New date now:

Expected Ship Date: 02/04/8024
 
I am still hoping for a release date on the 21st. Hopefully Verizon is just reporting the ship by date by fearing a large amount of back orders. I mean the ship by date has only changed by 1 day over a week and a half period. When phones came out in the past the ship by date changes by days if you wait even 1 or 2 days... (ex: The Razr Maxx and Dinc)

Yeah, I placed my order a couple of days ago. My confirmation e-mail says it will ship by 7/10, but if I check the order status, it shows a ship date of 9/14/6425!

Radio Shack is extending their pre-orders til July 4 for the Verizon version. Sprint pre-orders end 4 days before their release date, and AT&T is the same way. Looks like July 8/9 is gonna be the real day. Couldn't see them extending pre-orders that far if it will have already come out
 
Bummed. Wife got the galaxy nexus 29 days ago from best buy, and a pre-order phone doesn't work for an exchange within day 30. She was really hoping there would be a w ay to end up with the sgs3.
