I just prefer blue to white. I was a little disappointed at the early images of the blue, but the recent real world shots of it in the reviews look a lot better. Not sure if they changed the color or if it was just the lighting used for the professional shots.
I went to the T-Mobile store to see if I would like the blue. It is no comparison, the white looks way better than the blue. I thought the blue looked cheep and tacky. I'm so glad I ordered the white now.
Mine is going to be black
Sharpee??? haha
Nope. I found a loophole for all of you guys who want a black sg3.
Pick whichever color you want (white/blue). Mostly everybody will be buying a protective case for the phone. Pick a black one (or whichever color you want) and put it on. Now your phone is black (or whichever color you want).
So this debate about what color to pick is hilarious and pointless since that wont be the color you will see for the next 2+ years. The color of your phone will be the color of your case.
Hahaha. Yeah I was tired of black phones too so that's why I went with the white. Nice elegant look. I bet the blue is nice in person but I still wanted white just for preference. I'm plain, just like cars, I either get white or black.
Anyone else wonder if the delay is to give Verizon more time to develop the bloatware optimized (may be too strong of a word since I hate bloat) for the S3? With all of the other major carriers starting to ship out these devices (10-20 days) prior to Verizon, makes me think it is for some reason other than Verizon just being conservative with ship dates.
VZW has their bloatware identified and pre-tested on test units from Samsung LONG before they actually get the pre-order shipments from Samsung. There is no way VZW is 1) Getting 10's of thousands of these units, unboxing each of them, dropping their bloat on them, repackaging them and then shipping to customers. Samsung absolutely baked the bloat into the software on the phones before VZW ever got their hands on them.
I would of went with blue if it was more like a navy blue, but pebble blue just doesnt sound right to me
I would bet VZW already has their units. They came out quoted as saying there have "been a lot of pre orders" but nothing like the "holy crap, we underestimated the demand" like Spint / TMobile are saying, so that would suggest to me that their later shipping dates aren't lack of inventory related. We know they aren't side-loading any of their bloat, because it is already on the phones when they receive them.
The only reasoning that leaves is that it circles around the 28th, and more specifically the rolling out of tiered data plans at that time. The only thing I can't get my head around is why it would hurt them at all to release the phones to those who pre-ordered, as they are already grandfathering their unlimited data plans. Maybe they just want to give everyone who is paying attention, the opportunity to extend through the 28th (when they kill the SGS 3 pre-ordering)... its all wild speculation by me at this point....it isnt going to make my phone get here any quicker /sigh
I do think Verizon has SOME in the warehouse, but remember they are a HUGE carrier, compared to Sprint and T-Mo (not sure about how AT&T compares anymore). So they need more phones to launch than does the other, smaller carriers. If they are all getting them at the same rate, Verizon will need to stockpile longer before its ready. The limited quantities available so far bears this out in my mind. They want to have a decent amount for anyone interested whenever it launches. It is definitely possible in this scenario that pre-orders start going out earlier than the 9th, even quite a few days earlier...
I do think the 28th played a little in the decision, but they could have easily launched it on the 28th and gotten 95% of the same effect if they are already stocked up as you believe.
You are probably right about stockpiling of inventory. Imagine if they launched the 28th, with that being the last day to extend the unlimited data... and ran out of inventory that date in stores/online.... leaving tons of people out of luck that wanted to pick it up the 28th and basically forcing them onto the tiered plans when they re-upped their inventories on the 29th and later.
No carrier on the planet is going to activate thousands of lines on the same day as new plans go into effect. If those plans arnt billing correctly or working right that is huge disaster. The phone will most likely release on the 12th. Verizon may have a few of the 16gb from the pre order in but none of the 32's. Like I said before if I was another carrier that already had to delay pre orders and push back my launch date because samsung cant supply the phones and I later find out verizon is has them in warehouse just sitting on them. I would be absolutely livid. Samsung worked too hard to make sure all carriers carried this phone to pull a stunt like that.
Agreed about releasing same day as plan changes, that would be pretty awful... especially if they didn't have needed inventory.
I dont know how mad the other carriers could really be though, the variable here is the demand which Sprint / Tmobile / ATT underestimated. Considering all 4 carriers have software specific to them on the phones... i dont know they could blame Samsung if they fulfilled their supply to Verizon and Verizon chose to warehouse them pursuant to their pre-conceived release plans.
So do most of you think we'll see the pre-order ship out late next week or do you think it will be July 5th or 6th before they ship?
The wait is KILLING me!
