Verizon Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

just preordered! did it online, clincher was that the online rep said i'd get it faster going through the website than instore. the long wait begins!

I believe the majority of the people will have at least a silicone case on it. I have bought one with my pre-order. So whether the white material of the phone will get dirty or not is really a moot point. :)
Naked and no screen protector. I'm confident in the Gorilla Glass. My DX has lived through several drops and 2 years in the pocket with not a single scratch. Maybe I'm lucky.
I'll do no case because the entire rear cover is removable. If it gets beat, a few bucks will get a new one. My DX rear cover is only 1/2 the phone so when it gets scratches that are not on the battery cover, I'm SOL.
I know those HOX people lover their looks, but no removable battery COVER, is a negative to me.
Then, throw in a media dock to use as a bedside alarm clock and car mount for GPS, cases just won't work.

Pretty much exact same as me. My Droid X was amazing with no case or screen protector. Only one tiny scratch on it in year 2 and was able to fetch $100 for it on ebay still. Not bad at all. I agree with the battery cover too. If it gets messed up, just buy a new one. Simple. The phones are designed to be just fine without cases or screen protectors. Mine will be completely naked

Man..I'm tired of reading all these other threads of people w/ their S3's. What I wouldn't give to complain about poor battery life, call quality, etc. w/ an S3. I just hope I don't have any of those problems once I get mine. Until then we folks over here w/ Big Red just have to wait it out.

I don't understand how they consider it delayed until they start pushing back preorders that already happene.d You preordered day 1, and you have no delay at this point. You preorder today, it is a few days later, don't see that as a true delay.

I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, has anyone seen whether the S3 will be able to do voice and data simultaneously? I thought for that to happen it would need physically separate LTE and CDMA antennas, but I also thought I recall that it was supposed to be doable in later 4G phones. Anyone know?

+1 The first people to order got the first shipment of phones shipping by the 9th. That shipment is spoken for, so later offers get the second shipment of phones shipping by the 10th. Now the second shipment is spoken for and anyone who orders is getting the third shipment of phones shipping by the 11th. Why is that so difficult to understand?

It can pull data on an LTE connection while on a voice call. But not both on a CDMA data connection.

LOL Im posting it anyway. By the time I found the chart & came back I was too late ...

Are they taking pre-orders from anywhere else but Verizon and keeping the unlim data availability? I bought my old phone from Best Buy and I'm thinking about sticking with Best Buy for the no deductible insurance but don't want to risk losing unlim grandfathering. Thoughts?

I would be VERY careful about preordering from anywhere but vzw. Do a search on best buy preorder they dont change your contract until you activate people with bb preorder are going to get screwed. Consider yourself warned lol

I ordered on 6/6, so my white GS3 will still be shipped by 7/9. I preordered on Verizon web site and they have confirmed my unlimited data status. So I am good on both. :)

I can't believe it's going to take another 2 whole weeks for Verizon to get this phone. This carrier is the biggest joke in the industry.

Yay, my order shipped!

Actually they shipped me a SIM card for whatever reason. Bummer--got all excited for nothing.

At this point I'd even be excited for my SIM card to ship, though I'd probably lose it. :D

Max Johnson, I know BB have no deductible insurance but look at the way its handle with BB and Asurion. BB takes your phone and fixes it or sending a new one, which can take a awhile from experience. Asurion sends u a new (refurbished) phone in your hands the next day (excluding weekends). Guess the question is whether $100 is worth avoiding being without a phone or whether you can live without a phone for a few days or week or whatever.

I think the jury is still out on this. This was a great post earlier in this thread. Thank you Daytona

It likely will blindside them. As a Best Buy Mobile employee, I can confirm that this is indeed correct. Our system does not look at what features or plan you have until we are activating the phone. All it does is make sure you will be eligible for an upgrade when you do come to pick it up.

We will have no recourse to keep your unlimited data plan other than calling the Verizon COOS department and hoping they will play ball and re-add it for you when our system automatically removes it.

Just please don't take it out on your BBYM rep (unless they specifically informed you they could keep your data plan, then by all means have at it, because they shouldn't have said they could) if we can't do it. I see Verizon reps telling people online over and over that if you order from Best Buy you will still be able to keep your data plan. They have no idea how our system works and they assume it's like theirs. Remember, Best Buy has made none of these comments regarding your data plan, these are Verizon people saying this.

I've made sure my department at my store is informing anyone that we will be unlikely to keep their unlimited data if they purchase from us, just to avoid the shit storm that will inevitably follow this.
