Verizon Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

My friend at work said his girlfriend managed to get ahold of the sucker from verizon on the 22nd. I have yet to see this, however. He said they walked into a verizon store and bought it. The following day I asked him if they called them back to return the phone yet...

Pix or it didn't happen

I am not sure where everyone is getting the "ship by" words, my conformation email (amending VZN error) states:

"[FONT=&quot]Unfortunately, our original confirmation email to you contained an incorrect Ship By Date of June 6; the actual ship date for your order is July 9."

which tells me my SG3 will ship on 7/9 and I will receive it on 7/10-7/11.

Uh......what?

Anyway... I think that most people would like to believe they gave July 9 as a date so that they can ship out end of June and people will be like "whomg it came a few days earlier!! No delay! Thx VZW!!" I know I feel the same way when I buy something on eBay and it gets to me 2 days before expected.

BUT when has Verizon done anything that makes sense lately. July 9 is a safe move on their part for any forthcoming possible delays.

I just want my phone already ;(

They picked July 10th because they want at least a week of normal traffic to test out the new shard data plans before thousands of in store activations start with the S3 and HD razr. On top of that every U.S and canadian carrier has been delayed. No carrier has shipped at 32gb Pre order yet and Tmobile has lauched the 16 GB model in certain stores in Major cities and the reports are that only A stores have 5 handsets each. Not a very big launch. I am not sure I understand all the VZW bashing for tying to make sure all its customers get the phone at the same time. Tmobile also uses the HSPA+ band ( spelling) so the radio is not the same as the other carrriers. They were able to fill some of those orders faster not nearly as much demand.

I would love to know what is really happening with the S3. It certainly looks like it is Samsung and not Verizon that is slowing down everything. Conspiracy theorists say that Verizon is waiting to get their various shared data plans up and running, etc. So what do you do if you are the Verizon CEO and Samsung is delaying your launch and your biggest competitor, ATT, is delivering phone now? Do you leak info that it is Samsung's fault and risk not getting the "next greatest" phone from Samsung? Or do you do absolutely nothing? There is no one to "blame" at Verizon, because the CEO is invisible and plans to stay that way. Verizon has to take some responsibility for not letting customers know exactly what is going on. They REALLY need to understand how to relate to customers.

Please stop it. Verizon said July 9th, it is June 25th, and people want explanations already? Lol

I think it is not because VZW is evil, but they are huge and a very autocratic organization with their marketing running the show. I mean autocratic as far as one entity (marketing) and not a person- unless Dr. Evil its running the show.....

Nah, they are evil ;)

As far as device leaks, I can see a franchise or retail partner for VZW letting a sale our two fall through the cracks, but not a corporate store.

If we see demos at stores this week, it could be good news for some pre orders. As mentioned already, maybe just for 16gb.

The most credible rumor is because of the processor. Qualcomm is having trouble keeping with the demand. It make perfect sense considering none of the European or Asian phones were delayed. I am not counting the pebble blue delay because that was 3 days and obviously and issue with the that color nothing else.

Is Verizon's wireless service that much better than ATT? I've been with VZW since the MCI WorldCom days (which in hindsight is hysterical), and I've always thought that they have the best reception in the industry, but I'm questioning that premise. ATT can't be that bad, right?

Here is the foolproof way to check if your phone is on the way. 1) Check your credit card activity online and then go to VZW's pre order status page every 2 minutes 2) post back here how angry you are at verizon 3) Rinse and repeat

Actually I am not surprised. Verizon told me on the phone that it is not charged until it ships.

Im pretty sure that is normal that they dont charge until it ships, but I am sure someone will find a way to complain about it.

I'm sorry, I thought that was the name of this forum, androidcomplaintforum.com, looks like by the posts.

ok guys i would say it is safe to assume the GS3 is coming in 2 weeks so for those who wanted to know when the phone will ship , 2 weeks (add a day depending on when you pre ordered)

Ima add this to my signature to save time.

I think the evidence points to the phone being canceled on Verizon, just like the GS2.

That doesn't make any sense, they accepted pre-orders and who know how many millions they shelled out for advertisements... Verizon wouldn't back out of a business deal with Samsung after after it was announced into the market. That would mean a bad relationship with the two companies.

Okay, who is going to point out the obvious here.

But we need answers as to why it hasn't shipped yet... LOL
