Verizon Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

Coming out of hiding to post my .02 ... I like almost everyone would love for Verizon to be good for once and exceed expectations and ship early. The company largely has itself to blame for the negative views we on this forum express towards it. But at the same time, I wonder if this "ship by July 9" is in fact deliberate? Is it hard to imagine a Verizon CEO saying to Samsung CEO "We understand there's a shortage of S4 processors, excessive demand, etc. If we try to release this on June 21 with the other carriers, we'll have excessive shortages and our customer base will be further disenfranchised. We're about to roll out our new plans anyways. We don't we plan to release the phone until July 9, but if you can deliver the pre-orders sooner, we will ship early?"

Maybe, maybe not. The July 9 day is deliberate, I just wish we, the consumer, had more insight into the reasoning behind it.

Well hopefully the verizon ceo will read this post and start inviting us to their internal release meetings.

Not that it amounts to much, but I was speaking with an acquaintance (and low-level VZW employee) who implied he wouldn't be surprised to see the pre-orders arrive 1 or 2 days early. Now, I don't put much credibility in his words, but I thought it was worth passing on...

FWIW I recall that happening with new-release phones my family members had ordered.

This morning, my son's guinea pig ate from my daughter's guinea pig's dish. Silly piggy. Caused quite a ruckus. Anyway, the last time that happened.... an Amazon package showed up a day early! Only thing I'm waiting on now is the Galaxy S3!!!

ZOMG!!

All VZW has to do is at least put demos in the stores for customers to try out. Even VZW stores want that. The ones in the area do, anyway.

This story could have taken a dark turn. Phew!

The most credible rumor is because of the processor. Qualcomm is having trouble keeping with the demand. It make perfect sense considering none of the European or Asian phones were delayed. I am not counting the pebble blue delay because that was 3 days and obviously and issue with the that color nothing else.

To be fair, Qualcomm doesnt actually manufacture the chips, they design them and then have TSMC manufacture them. And Im not entirely sure TSMC is entirely to blame (although Im sure theyre probably freaking out over the number of chips they have to make) since Samsung hasnt shipped any of the 32GB models to the US (all the phones released thus far have been the 16GB model).

Well this is interesting, and explains where the "by 7-9" date comes from. So may people were saying "ship by" and I was like ... why do people keep saying this? The email I received was a correction changing the ship date from 6-6 to 7-9, and it clearly stated that the ship date was 7-9. The by 7-9 date does seem alot more appealing! :D It is concerning that none of the major carriers have actually released a 32gb version yet. Is this true?

Haha I was just stirring the pot with the "canceled" comment (although somehow it STILL wouldn't surprise me). It's just frustrating that Verizon constantly delays and delays big releases like this. Every carrier releases in June, Verizon picks July 9th, then July 10th, then July 11th.... and i will be a lot that it slips beyond that.

My e-mail confirmation looks the same as cedjunior with the Ships By July 9. Maybe the inital thought was to push it back to the 9th just in case and that VZW would release early if they could but I don't see that as being likely anymore. I just hope everyone realizes it doesn't appear the release date is getting pushed back, it's just a date for NEW pre-orders, the same happened with the OG Dinc.

On a side note, I went into a corporate store today to upgrade my girls phone before Thursday and asked the sales lady about exchanged the Rezound she got for the Incredible 4G on the 5th, if that would still allow us to keep unlimited. Her response was she beleives so but out of everyone in the store, only 2 people had been to training on the new plan. The effective date is 3 days away and most haven't been to training?!?!?! It's a wonder VZW hasn't run themselves into the ground. (By the way, the consensus in the store from those who had gone to training was an exchange can be made within the 15 day period and you will keep unlimited.)

Actually the Verizon website has always said will ship by 7/9 then 7/10 and now ship by 7/11. Right on the picture of the phone when you pre-order it. Thats where a lot of people get it from.

July 9, 10, 11, ... Purely to spread out the activation process a bit. Verizon doesn't want 3 million customers trying at the same time. I expect a 12 to begin appearing there in a day or so. They are still shipping first come/first served.

Add in he other activations, like Dinc 4G starting before the SIII, and it makes sense.

Verizon got burned publicly with the delays of the GNex. I really think that's why they chose the July 9th as their release date. That's probably the date of the second Samsung shipment and they want to be SURE they've got stock on hand. Just a thought.

I wonder how all those t-mobile and at&t people feel. You know, the ones who have ACTUALLY had their preorders delayed.

I also wonder how many of us 32gb preorders will actually see our devices by the ship date, seeing as not one has been sold in the US yet.

If Verizon got burned for late phone releases, the word cremated comes to mind for all the times they have been publicly lambasted for a delay, haha. To be honest, after the 28th there is not a whole lot of incentives to delay, so I expect July 9th was the expected date they would have enough phones stockpiled to meet their first batch shipment numbers...

It's not delayed when they did not officially announce it, not to mention it is not july 9th yet so when that date comes and no ship notice has been sent then you can complain.

I pre ordered at 2 Best Buys, called them both tonight and they say their release date is July 9th. I don't have a lot of faith in Best Buy employees (no offence) but just thought I would pass it along.

Just 2 more weeks :(

That is about the best argument for a date OTHER than July 9th. Best Buy claiming that is the day.
