Verizon Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

It is my first time posting on the thread. So I guess I would be called a lurker. haha. I have been watching the threads and news on the phone for a little while. I believe I learned about the pre order through a site. I ordered on the first day, 32GB white. I am ready to get rid of my Thunderbolt and have a G3. You all have given insightful information on the phone and I am grateful for all the information that has been shared. :)

Totally agree, this site is a life saver for anything you may have a question about. Think about this for a second, if we didn't have these forums we would have to rely on Verizon customer service to answer our questions. Thats scary!!!
Welcome bgurl!!

Just to torture myself I walked over to the Sprint store at lunch (advantages of working to a big city, all carriers have a store in about a 2 block radius). They had both a blue and a white on display. The reviews are pretty dead-on - very nice overall.

Yeah, so now I'm really, really ready to get this thing.

I simply want to test reception, which in my opinion is ironically the most overlooked thing of 99% of reviews. Nuts, but true. Ditto for the SG3. No signal comparisons of dbm, connection stability- zip zero.

At their core they are frickn phones, jeesh.

I am thinking of doing a side-by-side comparison between the SGS 3 and the Treo 700P i just found in my desk the other day. A head to head matchup if you will.

haha, I have a good friend who helps me with anything I need when it comes to any issues with Verizon. However... he'll flat out tell me... I have no information on anything.. we usually get to know the day before. He is a huge nut at doing crazy troubleshooting and can fix pretty much anything. But when I asked him about this phone. He goes... as you know... we have no information, but if you pre-ordered, you'll get the phone... eventually. haha.

It just amazes me that a company can bring in the $ that Verizon does has people that come across so incompatent. How do they do it? What if ESPN had a bunch of Ron Burgundy's working for them? They would be off the air in a NY minute.

And how do you get to use the phone before you buy it?

He's probably just referring to using a display model in the store or reading reviews from people on sites like this one. Two weeks worth of reviews and a little time in the store should be enough time to decide.

I feel the same way, although I'm not sure any bad review could have stopped me from buying the Gnex when it was released. Unfortunately for me.

I would just think that Verizon as a company would make their agents aware of any new phones, troubleshooting before the phone is released, also any updates. Granted the corporate stores are the only ones I go to, but you'd be surprised how many answers you get. That's why I only really deal with the one guy I've come to know. If he can't fix it, he'll get a new phone sent. He had told me before when the Thunderbolt came out, he didn't even get the troubleshooting assistance of what to try and do until the night before! He's one of the more advanced guys too. I would just think that Verizon would want their employees to be more prepared especially for what this phone might bring for a launch for them. If it is true and they have already done 3 batches of pre-orders... there could be quite a few people that are going to need quite a bit of assistance with their phones. (I have friends ask me to help them use their smart phones because they either don't want to go back to verizon and look stupid, or they don't want to read the manual. I can usually figure out any phone with in 5-10 mins for options.)

Our having to wait for the Verizon phone just might turn out to be a blessing. Have any of you read this thread about the loss of sound/headphone issue many have had on the GS3 already?

Hopefully if they determine its a bad batch of motherboards, they will swap them out before we see the Verizon model being shipped.

It's strange that almost all the posts in that thread that claim to have the same issues only have 1-3 posts.

Yall did see Verizon announced the release of the HTC Incredible 4G this Thursday the 5th, the week before our SIII. Of course, we got to keep unlimited data at a subsidized price and they don't.

Here's the tweet:

We also get a better phone :D

Actually, a large number of our members start by posting about a problem they have with a device they own. So seeing 1-3 post people posting about a problem they are having is not unheard of. The Introductions forum is filled with it.

Many others, though, come because they're looking to see what the next latest-and-greatest is or looking for this or that and stumble upon the forums via Google search. That's how I got here, I was researching my next device a little over a year ago. This place kinda sucked me in after that.

There are really two main versions of the GS3. The international version and the North American version; different processors, different sound chip, different radios, etc. Heck even part of the software/OS will be different; maybe even the motherboards. Problems with one may not exist for the other. Without any hard evidence to support it, my guess is most of the problems being reported are with the international version.

We get to KEEP UNLIMITED DATA??? Wow! Thanks for clarifying THAT!! :D How come nobody ever talks about these things?

That does make sense, since the GSM version has been out for a while now. Here's hoping ours will be bulletproof! :D

It appears that most of those posts are the international version. I am curious if the issue is the same as the US version. I don't mind a bug here or there I expect it...but that's a big one.

Starting to see a lot of problems being reported here and I witnessed one for myself on the Sprint demo yesterday. This is why I never preorder a brand new phone or buy one without using it first. Hopefully Samsung can push a fix before Verizon launches next week.

what issues? not to mention you can't really base much off of in store models since they are constantly on and people download everything and anything onto them.

The only demos in the stores that work properly are iPhones :D Probably because they can only really perform 1 true action at a time :secruity:

To make a very long story short...
we have had a problem with verizon today not letting us port a number from sprint because the s3 was preordered.
They advised us to cancel the pre order and just get it when they are in stores on the 11th...after all this is just 'speculation'

the sgs3 I played with at tmo did not stutter or lag at all even with all kinds of icons on all the screens and touchwiz and it's widgets running. I was surprised. Definitely more smooth than any phone I have played with previously( and I frequently go into at&t along with verizon stores) so I've played with about every phone on the two carriers.

Also the ones on sprint who are supposedly complaining are going solely by bars but if you look on other forums it shows the same dbm as other phones that are showing higher bars.
