[Verizon] [ROM][4.0.4] AOKP ICS B40/M6/Mods (7/8)

Hey y'all. Checking in and here to say that I use LeanTweaks to set my frequencies and not ROM Control and never have issues with my settings sticking!

Howdy Sir jmar! Always good to see you round these parts =)

Patriot I can also get it to stick with setCPU. You could, if you'd like, re-install the kernel. Maybe something got left over on the sdcard, cache, something idk or maybe restored settings of some sort....worth a shot

I'm on stock kernel...I didn't want to mess with the kernel because I've had such outstanding battery life...when I'm on demand lol. When I'm on interactive it's absolutely horrendous and what's been happening is by the time I realize I haven't switched governors after boot since it won't stick, my battery has drained significantly. This is really a pain :/

But the stock kernel is faux's 14mainline located here. It's just flashing the kernel no loss of data or anything like that. Wipe cache partition and dalvik then flash kernel. Of course do a backup first just in case.

Just thought it might be worth a shot if you've exhausted all your troubleshooting methods

Honestly guys, LeanKernel is the bees knees...I know you all like to test different stuff but nothing beats LeanKernel! :D

You shouldn't need a 3rd party tethering app for AOKP. Here's how to enable it:

1. Open up settings
2. Tap "More..." underneath the Data usage option
3. Tap "Tethering & portable hotspot"
4. Tap "Configure Wi-Fi hotspot"
5. Give the SSID a name and enter that in the "Network SSID" field
6. Select your preferred security (WPA2PSK recommended if all your clients support it)
7. Enter a password for the wifi (which you will enter from your laptop or other wifi-enabled devices)
8. Tap the "Save" button

Now you can enable it right now by checking the "Portable Wi-Fi hotspot" check box. You can also use the notification quick toggles to turn it on/off quickly if you so choose. Otherwise, just go through the settings hierarchy to get back there to enable/disable it in the future.

Hope that helps!

So hey if i use this method am i going to get hit with a 30 dollar verizon charge? Or is it free?

I've tried franco and stock and a couple of other "no-namers" and I keep coming to the same conclusion. I have had a couple of "less than optimal battery" issues with LK, but in general it's been my kernel of choice so far. Which reminds me, I need to donate.

I think it's incognito, BUT if you start pulling GBs and GBs of data, VZW may catch on. So be careful...I use tethering on occasion for work related stuff, and although I could probably file an expense report for it or something, since I'm using maybe 10's or 100's of GB, I don't bother. The standard warning applies here, though, YMMV. :)

Ah that stinks. Not to push LK, but might be worth giving LeanKernel 3.1.0 a shot. For me (and my phone), I see a 2x improvement in idle drain over the stock AOKP b31 kernel.

*sigh* still nothing. This really sucks guys :/

I know you prolly don't want to hear it, but did you try a dirty flash of B31 or a full flash again? Maybe something got missed when it got done the first time...nit sure if you tried this already....but I assume you have checked other things like the setcpu, old leantweaks, tasked, better battery....anything that could be getting stuck....so maybe its time to reflash the entire ROM? Sorry...
Good luck and let us know if you get it.

I really don't want to full wipe. I may try reflashing but I think I may just stick it out till the next build and I'll wipe then

So you have not full wiped? That is why then. I assume this would have been your 1st troubleshooting step. I don't understand why those who have issues just don't wipe completely....it saves so much troubleshooting wasted time....for goodness sake wipe in full if you're having issues!! (everyone not just you Patriot) :D

Agree! With SMS backup/restore, Titanium Backup pro and Nova's backup feature, I can be back up and running within 20 mins. Most of that time is waiting for apps to install/restore and TiBu to restore data then manually re-tweaking my AOKP settings in ROM control :)

Precisely.

I wiped coming from 30 to 31 and I've wiped twice on 31 because of my market issues so I think it's pointless to wipe 3 times installing the same build because I may as well just wait till the next build. Get my reasoning?

Eek I was under the assumption you never did a full wipe. My bad :o

Im having the same issue Patriot. But I dirty flashed. Battery is worse too. So not sure why setcpu is not working for you since you did a full wipe. For me its obvious lol. May try a new rom soon anyway. Always loved redemption.

Anyone else have issues with the Navbar not hiding when it should? MX video player for example, when I do fullscreen the navbar is supposed to disappear completely so I get to use the entire screen. Instead the buttons aren't there but the blackbar still is. Would prefer to get the full real estate like in stock or CM9. In Rom Control->Navigation->Menu Visibility I tried both "default ICS behavior" and "default ICS behavior+invisible icons when hidden." Is this a known bug or an isolated case? Or maybe AOKP always leaves the navbar there intentionally?
