[Verizon] [ROM][4.0.4] AOKP ICS B40/M6/Mods (7/8)

But man, JB in a near stock form is just way too sweet right now To go back to that dumpy ICS :P (I kid)

I remember a bunch of people here said the same thing about stock ICS and how it was too awesome and couldn't be improved upon; those same people are now located in the Root/ROM forums. :P

Having some issues with a new GNexus on AOKP B40 - LED does not work at all, not even when plugged in for charging. I can't say if it worked stock either...since I literally started rooting when I got home from the store. Is this an AOKP issue or should I be looking elsewhere?

LED flash while screen on is checked, Lightflow is on in Accessibility settings, pulse notification light is checked, and when I test by turning on all LEDs via Light Flow, nothing happens. Also tested with "Galaxy Nexus LED" - no bueno.

Wiped cache & Dalvik cache...no change. :(

Edit: Some people had it just come back randomly, some had it come back after wiping dalvik cache. Currently wiping Dalvik cache and will report results.

Since you've installed lightflow and you've also enabled LED flash in aokp settings they could be conflicting with one another. What I'd do to troubleshoot it is completely uninstall lightflow and see if it works with just the aokp built in settings. (btw without lightflow and also on stock ICS the led does NOT flash while charging. That is a lightflow specific feature). Welcome to AF!

I love the idea of lightflow, but I honestly gave up on it a while ago due to battery issues, deep sleep issues, and problems like described above. Who knew such a simple idea could cause so many problems

The LED is alive! I did not think about Lightflow and AOKP interfering with each other, thank you!

And thanks for the welcome, seems like you guys have a great community here :)

Has anyone else had issues with the keyboard? I had the issue on M5 and now on B40 but sometimes my keyboard (90% of the time while it's in messaging) will just sort of stop working. I can see what I've typed on the auto-correct/suggestions things but nothing is actually going into the text box. It's sort of a random occurrence but seems to happen more often if I lock the screen while the keyboard is up. Not a huge issue but it is a bit annoying.

Sounds annoying. I myself have never experienced this bug, but many have reported it so you're not alone. Check here for more info.

that's because you're special.

oddly enough, I have not experienced it since around B36, and I was one of the first ones (along with Trooper) to report it.

holy crap, so far i have had a lot of problems with this rom, all starting today! mainly my signal, and data, and it all started today, and just seems to get worse :( may have to go back to jelly bean again :(

Doesn't sound like the ROM, but more like a kernel issue? Or possibly a VZ network issue? Or a rogue app issue?

Cya soon in jelly belly thread chief ;)

Heh! Tried to sneak JB & its GApps into place using Boot Manager. It installed and when I went to boot the slot it hung at the Google logo.

Had to restore a nandroid. Battery pulls just came back to the same point. Swat I get for trying to cheat.

Staying on my rock solid stable B38 until the AOKP JB raises its head.

Heard many say boot manager won't work with JB, which doesn't surprise me since JB has so many issues with recoveries and what not (at the moment). Yesterday, after bootlooping, I wiped twice, flashed a different ROM, wiped again, flashed a different ROM, after all of which the device wouldn't boot, and after I finally decided to just let it sit at the Google logo for 10 minutes, it booted up and it was as if I hadn't touched it o.O all of my data, apps, the original ROM before the boot loops, all of it o.O So I will ask, how long did you let it sit at Google? :D

JB works with boot mngr it just has to be the main rom slot or w/e it is called.

OK, Thanks. My current setup is so good stability and battery wise I'll just wait for a polished version to evolve on AOKP. I was kind of curious.

One more problem I noticed, input would be much appreciated:

The GPS turns off when I turn the screen off, when Navigation is running. This means that I can't turn the screen off and just listen to the voice updates for directions...a PITA because leaving the screen on drains the battery very quickly. When I turn the screen back on, it takes a couple seconds for the GPS to re-lock and for Navigation to update my location. Is there a way to keep GPS lock even when the screen is turned off?

mine works with the screen off, and has on several revisions.
maybe you need to do the GPS mod that someone posted up a few weeks ago? seems to help some get a quicker lock and hold it.

Hmm that is odd. I'm guessing yours worked before you did the GPS mod? I have no problems with holding lock when the screen is on...only when the screen is off
What build and kernel are you running?

so is ICS just dead now or something since JB was previewed even though we dont have source for JB yet?

Kinda seems like it. Given that JB is a vast improvement over ICS and most if not all the big hitters are chomping at the bit for source to drop it only seems likely JB is the direction they will head. I believe aokp will put out a final milestone of ICS then head down the road of Jelly. I mean ICS and b40 are so solid how much farther can it go with a completely new OS out? Its funny because I feel like JB is really ICS+ or ultra or HD.
