[Verizon] [ROM][4.0.4] AOKP ICS B40/M6/Mods (7/8)

If you're on this rom jbdan, do you factory reset for each update or simply format/system then flash?

Nope just wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik. You could format system as well, but you don't have to.

In the OP in red :)

I usually like to wipe system cause I make mods all the time and this gives me a fresh start other than having to reload apps. But perhaps build #15 I'll do it your way. Thanks. Things looking real good on this rom. :-) Which kernel you running now?

I'm a fan of full wipes as well it solves a lot of potential issues and troubleshooting in the long run!

Running Lean Kernel 1.2.0 on build 14. Tried 1.2.1 and 1.3.0 and they're not as smooth for me (especially upon wake up) on the interactiveX governor.

I don't understand how to use the notification bar toggles...can anyone help? Jbdan?

Edit: full wipe etc...

pull noti bar down and tap the little equalizer/settings icon thingamabob next to the year 2012. Or do a long press on it, cool ehh! :D

Go into ROM Control to change this behavior based on your criteria

Anyone on Build 14, how does the LTE toggle work? I know roman has a GSM phone so I was wondering if it worked as expected, or if I should just flash the updated BAMF LTE toggle after I flash this.

I did this and I am still getting the red triangle via root manager. Anyone know why this is?

Have you changed/renamed the recovery-from-boot.p file in /system?

I don't like automated flashing and backups via Rom Manager fwiw. I prefer to manually backup and flash my phone. Had too many issues although Rom Manager might not be the culprit here in your case. Just my opinion.

Taken from a guide I used rooting my GN:

If youre booting into Recovery and get the green robot laying on his back with a red exclamation point... its because you only had temp recovery from ROM Manager and when you rebooted the phone... the stock recovery flashed back over it. If this happens to you... pull the battery and restart the phone. Download Root Explorer from the market. Open the app... on the top right of the screen you will see Mount R/W in a greyed out box. Press the box to change it to Mount R/O. Scroll down to "system" and rename the file "recovery-from-boot.p" to "recovery-from-boot.p.bak" by long pressing on it. Once its renamed... Change the Mount R/O box back to Mount R/W. After go back into ROM Manager and flash Recovery again... now the next time you reboot the phone... it will not get overwritten by the stock recovery.

I can tell you that it toggles on and off properly, and that when on, I can check in settings and it shows my network as CDMA/LTE, and when toggled off just CDMA, but I can't tell you if it actually connects because there's no LTE in my area.

I just used it. Took about 20 seconds for the 3G data icon to appear. Opened browser AOK. Toggled LTE on, 4G icon appeared in about 10 seconds, browser AOK :)

I'm away from my home computer right now or I would test myself, but how do the toggle speeds compare with BAMF widget v0.2? Their changelog says that it has "improved network switching". I know in v0.1 it was really slow.

Now I am stuck on that unicorn screen with team kang on it. Its just going in a circular. Anyway to fix this or how long is this suppose to go on for until it boots?

Thanks for your help.

It finally booted and said complete action using set up wizard or com.android.provision.DefaultActivity?

I am tempted to go with set up wizard. What should I select?

Set up wizard. Remember to be patient with new flashes they always take a while. Also after wiping dalvik, you'll also see a delayed first boot :)

Good question idk. I don't use the LTE toggle I leave it on 24/7, I just tested it for you :)

My battery life is insanely good so haven't found the need yet to further maximize it by toggling 4G or data, plus I prefer to not have extra widgets on my screens my OCD won't allow it :p

This feels like kind of a stupid question, but you guys are so helpful I might as well ask. Last night, i updated from M1 to build 14, then flashed soft key mods, then reflashed imoseyon's kernel...and I have it in my head that after flashing a bunch of stuff I should somehow "clean up" the result...I don't know, fix permissions maybe? Anything like that you guys know of that needs doing?

No question is stupid! :D

If it's running well no need to do anything. Enjoy your phone I say!

fwiw I have issue with "fixing permissions" as it's borked my phone idk how many times. ymmv

True that. I was just wondering. You're still on Lean 1.2.0 and AOKP 14 right? I might try Franco #10 but Lean 1.2.0 is treating me just fine for now

I've been on Franco nightlies but I'm switching now. Just not thrilled. I'll try out 1.2 Imo. But jbdan, or anyone here for that matter, I'm not getting much help in Rootz on this. I really would like a skip track on the vol key when screen is off. It's burdensome to turn the screen on, launch the music program, fast forward and then screen off again. I know I used to have it but now I don't remember if it was on the GN or my TB. Nonetheless, does anyone know of a mod that will do this for this rom? TIA

edit: I'm actually going to try out 1.4 stable now. If I don't like it later I'll flash 1.2.

Is there anyway to swap out the search invisible button for the recent app button? Or at least add it for build 14? How do you guys close recent apps without that thing?

Thanks. About to install nova launcher.
