[Verizon] [ROM][4.0.4] AOKP ICS B40/M6/Mods (7/8)

Probably a pretty dumb question (I'm partial to those, oh well), but when flashing nightlies and only wiping cache/dalvik, do you maintain your current kernel or does the ROM over right it?
Anyway, loving this ROM and all the themes available for it!
Nightlies meaning kernels? If so, then yes. If you mean roms then that's another story. With a new rom, i.e. nightlies, the best thing to do is in CWR go to advanced and wipe system, I think it's format/system. Then wipe cache, then dalvik, then flash the new rom. All your programs and setup will stay for the most part. You might need to reflash Nova launcher and mods you made, but your programs will remain. And yes, it will overwrite your kernel for sure. Just be careful not to factory reset wipe and of course, nandroid before you do anything just in case.

You will wonder why the hell you haven't done it already! This ROM is solid. Once flashed & setup..should check out all the awesome side mods that are available

Yea, most aren't updated to build 15 yet. I do plan to grab a battery mod though.

If for some reason you're not in any kind of rush to try it, build 16 and/or milestone2 is pretty close to dropping per Romans latest post in rootz. No ETA, but just sayin..:)

Hah, right when I flash build 15. Oh well, at least I don't have to wipe going from 15 to 16.

Also, when you first boot up, did anyone else have a choice as to what setup to run? It was weird.

So the stock kernel with this current build (15) is giving me pretty poor battery life. Anyone recommend one out there to improve it? (oc'd or not)

got link? that thread is huge now (if it's from his main aokp thread there)
also, he say why he'd post another build so soon? big bug fix or somin?

really wish he'd fix the horrible gtalk notification icon. not sure what gapps he incorporated into this rom but that icon is hideous, imo. (this one)
(I cropped to only show notification bar)

i noticed the same thing, and come to think about it... i have no idea what i selected haha

anyone know why it comes up? what the difference is?

I've gotten it since build 12 or 13(since i started using this rom), I just choose normal wizard w/o any issues

Choose setup wizard

Imoseyons lean kernel any version is good, but why not go with the latest 1.5.0.

He said at 2:00PM EST "Are there any bugs that need to be fixed before I bump to milestone 2 "

Your screenshot stops halfway I can't see the icon :p

I choose setup wizard and I can't remember why it does this =)

?
It's there in the notification bar. I don't mind the actual app Icon in drawer. It's the one in the notification bar

Oh LOL! Srry I thought you meant an app icon. I didn't even notice it in the noti bar thought that was SMS of some kind. I don't use g-talk.

So is it a different icon on other roms or stock rom? Never noticed ;)

Ya I have but it goes unnoticed - can't believe I'm the only one asking for it w/ all the Talk users out there. Oh well...maybe someday ;)

Finally delved far into the customization settings and WOW! Finally an easy way to get the search soft key back (I know it's been available forever, but this is much easier) and to also set the color to the nav bar: awesome. Love how they haven't done a ton to ICS but given you plenty of options at the same time. Loaded up leankernel 1.5 (thanks for the update Jbdan, the list of kernels in the other thread doesn't get updated frequently enough) and we'll see how battery life is. Either way, it's smooth as hell!

Awesome to hear give 1.5.0 a couple days and charge cycles you should really start seeing an improvement tomorrow!

The thing I love most about aokp is that most everything is optional. He's left it up to the user and that goes a long way in my book =)

Yeah me too, love to customize. As for the gtalk icon we discussed it this morning a bit over in irc. His gapps were from someone named Pete who had a very clean version from what I understand. He now has the version of 4.0.3 gapps that you want but I'm not sure how high on the priority list that is. He's got a lot of folks banging on his door now, he's prob the most popular dev now. I know someone who might be able to get that noti icon back but it won't be until tomorrow at least.
