[Verizon] [ROM][4.0.4] AOKP ICS B40/M6/Mods (7/8)

Make nandroid, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, flash B26 & gapps then reboot.
You shouldn't lose anything in a dirty wipe. No guarantees but most of the time its ok

Well........... If you have inverted apk's, MMS, Gmail, Email, Contacts, you loose them as they get overwritten. The data is still there but the inversion is gone.
So to prepare just go in and rename them before flashing and then delete the new ones and rename the inverted back.

Or just reflash em which is what I do :P

Anyone else experiencing incorrect battery values? Three times now, I have had my battery down to less than 10% (once completely drained till it died) and once I plug it to charge it, it shows 50% charge. This has jewel the case with the wall charger and car charger. Build 25, lean kernel 2.2.0.

I flashed AOKP b26, but I haven't tried playing with kernels yet. Does that mean I'm still running the kernel from stock 4.0.2, or does AOKP have a default kernel? I tried doing a quick search but couldn't find anything. I plan on looking around more tomorrow, I'd like to try some of the different kernels out, but I want to make sure I know what I'm starting out with so I know what I'm comparing.

AOKP has a default, built in kernel. I can't comment on its effectiveness, as I've never really used it. I flash the latest of leankernel over top of each AOKP update.

I am on B26 and running leankernal 2.2.0 also. I am going to give notrim5 a try tomorrow see how it does....and yes, there is a stock kernal on AOKP. Some people, like me, prefer a little more control over the voltages and speed....
Edit: oh and battery life, can't forget the control over battery life!!!

Can anyone offer some hints on kernels that play nice with AOKP? I've seen a lot of people using leankernel, and I see there's also a thread about franco. Obviously to find the best one, I'd need to try some out, but I'm curious if anyone thinks there's any others that I should look into as well.

for those of you that are running B25 or 26, could you check in settings for the language and input keyboards...does anyone have the Google voice keyboard listed? And if so is it checked or unchecked?? I have been getting random reboots since B23 and have narrowed it down to that on my phone...checked and I get reboots when using the phone in landscape. Unchecked and I am all good....thanks for checking!!

runnin B25 and Lean kernel 2.2.0.

I have Google Voice Typing checked and I'm running B25.
In its settings:

  • "Block offensive words" is selected.
  • Input language is set from Auto to "English US".
  • I also run "Swype" and it is in the list and selected.
  • Text to speech output is set to "Google Text to Speech".
No issues

Let me know what you think compared to interactiveX!

Well, I think I was definitely getting better standby battery loss with LK 2.0.1 vs. 2.2.0, so it's hard to say. I was expecting hotplugX to be a little easier on the battery, but it seems to be about the same in terms of usage/speed while using the phone. On 2.2.0 the interactiveX and hotplugX governors both resulted in about a 5% drop over 7-8 hours. Not nearly as good as 2% for 7-8 hours I was getting with 2.1.0 and interactiveX. I'll give it another charge cycle or two I guess.

B25 gave me file transfer bugs, not being updated in real time causing me to need to use an app called SDrescan. vIf I deleted a file using the PC it would not show it as completed on the device. Just a major pain no matter what avenue.

If I used Root Explorer to move a file to the SDcard it would not update. I would have to reboot the phone or use SDrescan. If I drag and drop from the PC to SDcard no dice there either.

I am not alone and I have seen other reports. That is where I got the SDrescan tip.

Some blame it on MTP but it worked flawlessly on M3 and previous builds.

Now on B26 and its good again. No matter what I do its real time updated.

btw since flashing b25 when it hit the shelves, I've been running it with the packaged kernel. Never gave it a chance prior as I've always flashed my franco 13.1 or lately on the last 2 builds lean 1.10 as soon as I flash the latest AOKP build.

I'm very impressed with the stock kernel on B25 (3 full days now). Curious, has anyone given the stock kernel a chance before? I know it's hard NOT to flash anything as this is an addiction, but time has been limited on my end and I'm pleasantly surprised :p

Flashed 26. I do have say that the stock kernel is giving me much better battery life. Definitely an improvement over 4.04.

On a side note...

What is this Japanese IME keyboard that comes packaged with the AOKP.

It comes defaulted on? Is there a way to remove this or uncheck it?

Or is there a reason for it being there. I just don't remember it being there on 4.04

Is there anyway to flash the kernel without the whole ROM? If I do do I need to Gapps again? Curious?
