[Verizon] [ROM][4.0.4] AOKP ICS B40/M6/Mods (7/8)

Ok - I know it's probably just me having small brain farts but if I'm going to use the Third Eye theme it says " If you wipe you must let the rom boot up once before installing this!!!" - that is only for the actual theme right? There's a gapps download there as well. I think I've always just downloaded the gapps with the rom.
Please unfuddle my brain. :D

What's this "Swagger" mode that they talk about in the changelog. I still think I prefer LiquidRoms over AOKP (never thought I'd say that :P)

What he is saying is don't flash the theme in the same swoop that you do the ROM and gapps. I'm not sure on the gapps part of it. I'd just try using the gapps that is paired with the ROM you're flashing and see what happens...kind of like an adventure :D

I like adventures! I'm planning on flashing tonight after my daughter goes to bed. I'm gathering now so I can do it all in one sitting rather than hunting each piece down. :D

The general consensus is that if one must ask that question then ignorance is bliss and you'll not need to use it :p

However, (j/k btw :D) it is a toggle for the prideful. Or, in other words, it does nothing!

Are you bumping up to B27? Still on franc 13.1? Yayah!!BB's is updating :D

Hilarious waste of resources. Great little joke they have there :P

I am and I am! I think I'll let the kernel in the rom stay for a few days and see what happens before I automatically flash Franco's. I did a new wallpaper and everything!

Yeah!!

The stock kernel plays real nicely with b27 in my experience. It also seems to get more consistent signal fwiw. Post pics when you can ;)

Well that makes it awfully tempting to reflash b27, but I'm pretty happy with battery life on lean 1.10.0. Opinions on whether or not the difference is worth it?

Edit: to clarify, I'm on b27 with lean, I just mean reflash to get the stock kernel back.

I've flashed a combo of third eye and AOKP since...well, since I've been using it I think. I've flashed them one after the other without boot space every time and haven't seen any issues. Then again, I do everything at once :D

If you're happy I'd stick with what you got unless your up for experimenting. The stock kernel is much more efficient then I thought it would be I'm glad I gave it a try for 48+ hours and still on it. I ran imo 2.3.0 for 3 days and it is very nice as well, but honestly the battery life overall is very comparable. I'd certainly give the edge to custom kernels in performance & while the phone is idle, but we're talking ~1 hour differences in my experience and setup. And the "plus" that I have seen with the stock kernel is a more consistent, not better, cell signal and 4G connectivity. Coincidence or not, it's there. I look at it like this: yes I will flash the heck out of kernels :p, but Roman uses the stock kernel, I figure if it is good for him then it must be worthy.

A lot do and have no issues as well. Freedom rocks!

I have had some quirks coming from M3 to B26. Things have been smooth for me always reading of others troubles so I finally got some action.

  1. I flashed B26 & LK 2.3.0 and noticed my Octo lock screen choices were limited. I could no longer add a Navigations & Directions short cut. It was in the list of choices but would not stick. This is one I really like because I follow subjects deep into areas I have never been so a quick swipe to a navigation to the house is nice.
  2. The same for a Direct Message shortcut.

  • I also will setup a Navigation shortcut but it did not appear in the list of choices.
So I flashed B27 on the its built in kernel and its all good and that kernel will do great for battery life I found.

Now on B27 and LK 2.3.0 and its all good so I dunno what happened.

Ok so I know there isn't in ROM control...but does anyone know if there's a way, perhaps via a mod, that would take away the volume toggles at the bottom of the power menu? My phone is always on silent so I don't need them and my power menu seems to be getting a bit cramped..

Also, about the power saver function, when something gets turned off does it turn back on after you wake the phone? For example if I have auto sync off after 5 minutes will it turn back on when I wake the phone? Same thing with 4G, if I have it off after 10 minutes, will it go back on when I wake it? Sorry guys, never used power save before :D
