[Verizon] [ROM][4.0.4] AOKP ICS B40/M6/Mods (7/8)

Anyone else who's trying to use the carrier text weather keep getting both weathers, the notification and the carrier text? Doesn't seem to stick

Just a quick question. I just flashed 27 through room manager and I ticked all 3 pre installation options which completely formatted my phone. I used the backup so all is back to normal.. Do I need to flash my kernel again?

Yes. After a full reset you need to flash the kernel again

You say you "used the backup". Does that mean you restored the backup? In that case no, you don't need to reflash the kernal.

Go to Settings> About Phone and you can see what kernal you are running and decide if you need/want to flash a kernal. Some people are staying with Roman's kernal.

Have had great battery life and performance on build 27 with included kernel using powersave governor.

Yes I restored the backup. I I did look at the kernel version and I didn't recognize it so I flashed the kernal again.

On that same screen what does it say is the MOD version? That will tell you if you have your current ROM installed properly.
I know there have been a few posts in this thread about the process to flash, but my personal process to flash/install a new ROM is to do it in recovery.
Before I update or change to a new ROM I will use ROM manager to backup my current ROM. Only then will I do a new ROM:
In order to update my ROM, I use ROM manager to boot into recovery...clear data/factory reset in recovery mode, then install from SD card, both the ROM file and then GAPPS...then reboot. Activate, let googlemarket download and install all my apps, then whatever did not install from the market, i can restore through titanium backup. Then I install my kernal through ROM manager by the install from SD card, and the wipe dalvik only check box...let it install, come back into the power options in the settings-rom-performance.... then reboot. I know its a preference thing, but it works for me.
Here is my about phone:
7PLXq9WR

And my Performance tab in ROM control:
VEZ87vPj

Loving B27 with lean 2.3!!!!!
(Although I wish I could be using notrim...I really like how I can run AOKP at 1.65ghz.....awesome!!!)

Says what is used to say build 25. Everything is back to normal now anyway.. I'll probably flash to 27 later today if I get the chance.. I'll be doing what what I did last time though. Backup, and boot into recovery, wipe davlik and data. Flash, gapps and kernal

I'm getting a warning that I'm about to exceed my data limit. That's annoying for two reasons. First I have unlimited data. Second that triangle won't go away! How do I disable this?

I got rid of that by raising the data limit warning level. I don't think the warning can be disabled, but you can just drag it up to some point you'll never reach, and it'll never go off. It'll also clear the current warning!

1) LOVE this rom. I use leankernal with it.

2) I hate unicorns.. especially pink ones that float around my phone. I swapped all that out for stock.

3) Nice job changing the title of this thread to one you don't have to continually change. :p (took you long enough. (steven runs)).

Are you guys finding that you get better battery life with the stock AOKP kernel versus others?

I think the stock kernel is very comparable battery wise to the custom kernels out there. It might not perform as well if you bench your phone or 3D game heavily.

Gapi...quick question since I can't remember....is that with some 4g, no 4g or....cause I wish I was getting that kinda life!!!!
here is my screen life...got busy at work.. my battery is at 48%...

Its more wireless than 3G and more 3G than 4G. I even had the screen timeout set to 5 minutes to accumulate some of that screen time between sessions.

I will say that it runs kind of rough as in the screen transitions from home to drawer and back and such are not buttery smooth, but only noticed if you are looking for it.

I have worked my way back through the latest lean kernels to 1.8.0. My device likes that one. Fast and smooth as butter and nice to the battery.

As for battery life the included AOKP kernel is no slouch eh?

I used the built in kernel for a couple days before I went to Franco 13.1 and seemed to work pretty well.

Didn't somebody say their phone started popping up with "activation complete"last week? Mine started doing it yesterday.

Up until build 27 I was on Franco 16.0 religiously, and Lean 1.6.6 exp3 prior to that. Awesome battery life with Lean, even better with Franco.

When I flashed 27, I decided to give the stock AOKP kernel a try and I gotta say, by far the best battery life I've had with the phone thus far. It seems to vary from build to build, but 27+stock kernel is a winner for me.

Yeah mine started rebooting and I would get the activated screen, for about 3 days on and off. I ended up doing a full wipe and updating to B27. I think I had done a dirty wipe from 25 to 26...so I may have had some random files somewhere....the full wipe and reinstall fixed it. Loving it now.
