[Verizon] [ROM] AOKP JB-MR1 Milestone 2 [4.2.2] (07.21.13) TORO

What I would do: First backup your sdcard to your PC. What recovery are you using and what version is it?

Then wipe data/ factory reset, wipe cache, format system, wipe dalvik. Flash ROM (check md5 and size of course) then flash gapps, reboot. If it sticks on Google logo screen DO NOT pull battery unless it sticks more than 5+ real timed minutes. Did you?

Be patient and do it in order all should be well. You DO NOT need the jb boot loader to run jb but it is recommended idk why...

Using CWM 6.0.1.0 with touch.

I did the above sequence several times. It never sticks at the Google logo, just an endless Boot Animation.

I am running AOKP B38 with LK 3.9.0 exp1. No lean tweaks, just as it comes.

I have a nandroid of when I 1st rooted the device weeks after the release with the stock ROM.

Thanks, Part of me wants to wait for the final but now I want to get back on this horse until it breaks. :)

Just to make sure since you didn't comment on it you did check the file size and md5 of both the rom and gapps right? Because a ton of people throughout this whole JB madness have been getting borked/incomplete downloads. Good to see you got the fire in you to get this stuff working :D

Well........ I confess, no. I have been spoiled with never getting a bad one and that has made me lazy.:o
I will this evening. and go through the steps again.
Got to have it available for business today.

Thanks! All!

Bad downloads happen to the best of us...no one is immune, no one! :D

might try using superwipe before you flash your new rom, i am on touch cwm as well.

in my experience, it is not supposed to, and it has not deleted my memory/storage. i backed up my phone contents to my pc to be sure but i used this a few times and never had a issue.

download super wipe
download aokp latest
download gapps
boot to recovery
flash superwipe
flash aokp rom
flash gapps
reboot
prosper.

I've been run I g 7 for the last few days. Love it.

The only thing I've noticed that's missing is on the keyboard at the end of the sentence. When I press space bar, there are no punctuations listed at the top. Otherwise everything is super smooth and project butter is awesome.

Jellybean introduced next word prediction which took away punctuation suggestions. However, next word doesn't seem to be working on AOKP. But even if it were, to get back the punctuation,

Settings --> Language & Input --> Android Keyboard Settings --> Advanced Settings --> Uncheck Next Word Prediction.

There was an article on Android Central a few weeks ago about this :)

But you only need to flash the jb boot loader once, not every time you flash a jb ROM.

Isn't the boot partition backed up in recovery?

Does that include the boot loader?

What happens if I restore a backup prior to flashing the bootloader? :D

Well, I have been beaten. I have did the MD5 checking, wiped in every possible way, and still get the endless boot animation. The last one I let go for 45 minutes.

I'm gonna back off until the official non-test release and get back in the fight then.

This version of aokp might not agree with your phone. I had a similar issue with the jelly belly ROM and the headaches I had to endure with it. Random automatic reboots going into boot loops and killing my battery was just too much. Had to flash back to complete stock 5 times before I had enough. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment

sixstringsg (a developer for Team Kang) said that new nightlies were supposed to upload automatically and be posted on Twitter last night while he or she was asleep and that if that didn't work (which it doesn't appear that it did), he or she would post them in the morning. So expect a morningly release guys n gals :D

Anyone know where the kernel files are? I'd like to make a stock kernel flash able zip before they throw on Faux's

That whole server is borked. I can't get a successful toro or grouper download on any device (pone, tablet, PC, or Mac) or any browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari)

Definitely, I got my grouper downloaded and flashed successfully, but my toro one is all screwed up. 3 consecutive bad downloads and when i finally got a download to match the md5, it wouldn't flash so I'm restoring a nandroid on my phone currently.

Lucky that you even got the grouper! Not sure why Team Kang stopped using goo.im...never liked Androtransfer.

How'd you change it? I got a whole bunch of .html downloads which I assumed were bad...there's a way to convert them?

Idk why they download as HTML files, but I change them to .zip manually using root explorer. Has worked before but something is wrong with the toro files for sure. Even with a matching md5, it would bomb while flashing and give an error.

When I change them it says the size is 0 KB o.O
