[Verizon] [ROM] AOKP JB-MR1 Milestone 2 [4.2.2] (07.21.13) TORO

That is a bad download for sure, but not because of the HTM file type.

Weird. And I find it weirder the way that sixstringsg is handling it...he's basically just saying go on to the site and download it...yeah, that's what everyone's trying. Maybe use a different host? Lol

sixstringsg just tweeted that the toro build is fixed on androtransfer.com. Mine actually started downloading for the first time so that's a good sign

Well. I just got a successful download of 163.06 MB which is what it says it should be...however...the MD5 doesn't match..now it's possible sixstringsg didn't update the MD5...in any event, I flashed and all went well...seem to be running the right build and all seems working...dunno. I'm a rebel :D

What was your md5?

Finally got updated to the new nightly. My download failed multiple times, but I eventually got it to finish. The md5 checked out and was good to go. Not many new features but I did notice faux kernel now comes loaded in it.

Faux's great but since Jellybean I've really wanted stock kernel (because stock is just that good). I get why they include it, but I'd still rather run stock. That's why I asked earlier today if anyone knew how to extract the stock kernel because I saw Faux added in Gerrit :)

If I remember correctly, if you just open up a zip that has the stock kernel built into it, it should be right in the root directory of the zip called boot.img. At that point you could make your own flashable zip to flash in recovery, or flash it straight in fastboot if you desired. Might want to check that with someone a little more experienced than me, but I think that's what needs to be done.

It was my impression that a kernel was a number files from a number of directories...I checked a flashable .zip for a custom kernel and there were loaaaaads of files in it from multiple folders and I couldn't locate them all. So I'm not sure...that could be just custom kernels

I think that's just custom kernels because looking into factory images and that flash-all script that it uses to flash back to complete stock, it flashes bootloader, 2 radios, and the image. the image has 4 img files in it, userdata.img, system.img, recovery.img, and boot.img. userdata, and recovery are pretty self explanitory, system.img is the os itself, and boot.img is the kernel.

Interesting...very tempted to try...would have to figure out how to make it a flashable zip too...but I'm scared ._.

Isn't the boot partition backed up in recovery?

Does that include the boot loader?

What happens if I restore a backup prior to flashing the bootloader? :D

After flashing the JB boot loader will it affect any 4.0... rooms. Example I'm running M5 and am not ready to flash JB yet... but I want to flash Job boot loader in prep

A lot of people are running JB on the ICS btldr with no problems. A lot of people are running ICS after switching to the JB btldr with no issues. So I don't think there is a definitive answer for you, ya might just have to try it and see or leave what ya got.

My point about the bootloader: it is recommended by developers that you update, it doesn't hurt you, it requires no wiping or complications, so why not just do it?

Ok..just downloaded and flashed...I see literally no difference between this and the 8/1 build. Even the AOKP version is the same (still says 08012012)
