[Verizon] [ROM] Codename Android for JB (updated 10/2)

Hello,

(1) When doing a clean flash from one rom to another rom, should I first use Titanium Backup and only backup the user apps or all user apps + system data? Then, I'd like to use Nova Launcher and backup my homescreen layout.

(2) After backing up, then I can load the new ROM and restore my backups from Titanium Backup and Nova Launcher, right?

1) Only user apps

2) Restore the Titanium backup first and then restore the Nova backup so that all of your apps and widgets are present

After clean install of new rom:

  • Activate with your Gmail acct.
  • Open Play Store and if it starts DL'ing apps, hold "stop" until it stops.
  • Find Titanium Backup in Play Store and install it. Install the paid version as well. (The paid version avoids having to tap each app multiple times when restoring... which for 100 apps, would be 200-300 dialogs.)
  • Open TIBU and you'll probably get a notification that the ID has changed and do you want to restore it. Do this to prevent multiple devices showing up in Play Store. Your phone will reboot.
  • Then open TIBU again, tap the batch button at the top and choose "restore missing apps with data". Using this option avoids any bad system (green or red) items that can bugger your phone. :D
  • Uncheck any apps you do not want, then tap the green checkmark at the top to start installing.
  • Reboot.
  • Enjoy.

I restored my CNA 3.2.0 backup. I prefer the old kernel that supports touch to wake and saw nothing new in the 3.3.0 build worthy of keeping it.

Option "B" would have been to install the GlaDOS kernel, but since my phone is idle most of the day, that means a drop in battery life for me over the stock kernel.

BTW, loving this rom with these inverted apps:
Justinbean inverted JB gapps 8/3 links up - xda-developers
and email from here: [Inverted] Inverted G Apps (update 8-4 Gmail4.1.2, Contacts fixed in landscape) - Galaxy Nexus Themes - RootzWiki

You know that's a no-no. :D

If you're going to pollute a new install by doing that, you might as well do a dirty flash.

I get lucky most of the time.
In fact, I read that 3.2 was a new base, so I am surprised it didn't catch me last time.
'Sides, I hate having to set up my contacts and ringtones every time. :)

Hello,

(1) CNA 3.3.0 is still giving me slow WiFi at home. I always had strong WiFi at home. Especially on YouTube.

(2) Sending multiple text messages asks me if I would like to send them. If so, I need to confirm for each text message to be sent.

Oh, and nightlies start today too....sooooo I guess, happy birthday to you too? o_O

Also releasing a small official update to 3.3.1 for all devices.

Todays update may be a .1 update but it includes a few notable fixes and performance improvements, so you are going to want to update.

Anyone else having trouble with the built-in notification light custom controls? I have it set for 6 apps, all different colors, all "always on", and yet I'm getting nothing. I hit "test" and each one works fine individually, but not in a live setting.

Any recommendations? This issue alone may send me back to BAMF, although I will miss a few other tweaks that CNA has. I'd go back to lightflow, but battery drain was a bit of an issue with that. I figure the more that's built in, the better.

Hi,

I had the same issue you are having. Indeed, if the LED lighting is built into the settings, there would be less battery drainage. Unfortunately, this issue cannot be resolved as it is up to the developers of Light Flow to have it support Jelly Bean.

I have left CNA and am enjoying JB Sourcery. It is super awesome and will blow away CNA.

Weird. Works fine for me.

We had trouble at work this afternoon with people (most using AT&T) unable to access our website. Now at home, I can't DL from Goo or I would have already flashed a nightly. (I'm on Cable.)

downloaded from goomanager - will try to install today as dirty flash. didn't see anything major in the changelog that would make me think that a clean flash was required, at least not from 3.3.1 nightly 3.

This has all the features of AOKP without the pink unicorns. :D

If I was a 9 y.o. girl, I might enjoy AOKP more.

yeah, not a pink unicorn fan.

honestly, CNA is about a mile ahead of AOKP right now, and with a few more requests of mine knocked out, I'll be set on CNA. I tried the Koolaid (aka JB Sourcery) and even they don't have everything that CNA has (though the custom nav buttons are nice, which CNA is working on.)

Oh, and dirty flashed from 3.3.1 nightly 3 to 3.4.0.
Had to do several reboots to get everything working, but it seems to have no issues thus far. The nav bar ring targets is a pretty neat feature, though I'll probably forget they are there.
