[Verizon] [solved] high CPU temp due to overclocking?

I need to know what temp MY phone should be running at in Celsius degrees. My phone has hit 70° and I don't want to fry my CPU.. right now I'm running aokp ROM with Franco nightly kernel clocked at 1651 MHz... is this a noob mistake?? Plz help and thank you for your time.

At that level, you are overclocking your processor at 1651 MHz. The galaxy nexus is defaultly clocked at 1200 MHz. Overclocking is usually a little risky as it has the potential to fry the cpu, not to mention waste battery. I would only recomend overclocking if you feel like you need the extra power. Many people tend to underclock their phone in order to save battery life.

Curious as to why you're running your cpu clocked that fast?

Because he can! :D

Seriously tho, you're asking for trouble. Instablity, short life of components, short battery life... potential corruption of data or file system... need I go on? :D

My SGN is plenty fast at stock speed.

If you think about, what's the slowest thing on your phone or computer? It's probably the Internet connection. I spend a lot of time on a 5 mb and also on a 20 mb cable connection.... both seem equally slow. Last I checked my 4g Verizon was in the low 20's.

The kernel may modify some of the 3g/4g/wifi settings, often to improve battery life, but the main performance changes would be to device performance.

Thats just ridiculous.

lol I totally agree

I'm a PC geek as well and have been building them since 2003. I was a huge proponent of oc'ing chips back in the day. I still am on PC's if it's moderate. More bang for your buck simple. Phones however, I don't see it.

A few in franco thread are running at 1.8 - 2.0 GHz and love it. I can't believe the plastic hasn't melted off the backs yet....

LOL, I dare 'em to put it on the dash of their car, in the sun, during summer, running a GPS app, with 4G enabled, watching NetFlix  :p ;) :) :D.
