Root [Verizon] Starting Root - Some questions and maybe more soon

One thing is that in Titanium backup I don't see anything about backing up user data...which might be the fact that I didn't get my paid versions of apps?

I see user apps, and system data, nothing in between

Ah yes, are you talking about the one developed by ScaryAlien?

I just don't understand why, when he is long pressing on the rom.zip in the file manager, it does not pop up any options?????

That is weird. I still use root explorer which I bought way back in the day  , so I'm not familiar from use with ES.

At this point, I would wipe again, and reflash.
Take it slow... sign into google and check things out first before downloading TB and restoring user apps/data.
Wipe well too:)

That's my view of the news :p

@jhawk..thanks for helping too...and do you sleep? lol

Sleep is for the weak :p. But in all seriousness, I did lesson planning for next week while helping out last night and managed to sleep about 6 hours I think? Probably needed more, so I'll probably turn in earlier tonight.

Do i have to back everything up again in titanium before i re-flash? or will it still be fine from when i first backed it up?

I must have missed this post, but when you backup your apps, it will backup data also.

Oh well in that case I'm not sure why I didn't get the paid versions back, and only the free versions.

Since at the moment I obviously don't have my contacts so I don't think there's anything that can be done about that as far as backing up to google at this point. I do have them on the SD card which maybe I can get back to after i reset and flash again?

Since you nandroided your stock rom, you can approach by wiping, restore the nandroid and that will restore your contacts. After that, you will have them at your disposal to manually upload to Google.

Oh yeah that's right. I think I'll try that. How do I go about getting the nandroid up, so I don't mess something up?

Also, do I still wipe all 3 areas before the nandroid as I did when doing CleanROM?

Yes. As a general rule of thumb, you always want to factory reset when ever you change roms, even if it's a backup. If you are simply updating your rom, you can sometimes get away with not factory resetting and only wipe cache and dalvik. It's actually quite nice because you don't lose anything, it's just like taking an ota. Just because it has a chance of introducing bugs, it's good to make a backup before you do that though.

Ok cool I will try to do that...I'm not sure where I will look for the nandroid though? or how I will recognize it because it is a weird number lol

well I am looking through my files on the computer as it's hooked up but I can't find it, not sure where to look lol...I know it's there somewhere though

I'm not sure if Cwm still uses blob files or not. I've gotten so use to twrp that I'm not sure how cwm does it anymore. If I remember correctly, it is a bunch of characters and you should be looking to restore from sd. If I remember correctly, you stored it on your external sd, right?

AHA I found it, but it's is a folder with many things inside. so I am thinking maybe the folder as a whole is what I will select when rebooting with the nandroid?

It looks like he stored it on the external SD as that's what mike said to do.

Dang looks like I'm gonna have to wait till this afternoon to work on it cause I am about to head out to see a movie. I will report back after the movie and I try to boot up the nandroid :)

I'm back, and I reset both caches and factory reset data, and was gonna get the nandroid on there, but I accidentally selected the wrong menu and I didn't even see what I accidentally pressed...something about sideload,

it says "sideload started...Now send the package you want to apply to the device with "adb sideload <filename>"

How can I get out of here to get to the correct menu? Just pull battery or something? I can't find another way.

I just pulled battery and went back to recovery and when I navigate to external SD card and see the number for my nandroid, i select it and it says no files found. ?

I have to leave in less than 30 minutes so I really hope we can get this sorted out by then :O

At this point I assumed you wiped the caches and factory reset only.
So your rom should be intact if you did not wipe system or anything
Try to boot back into your phone normally.
Then use your file explorer to see if the files for your backup are there.
That is, assuming you did not wipe the system....just the factory reset and caches, you should still have the rom to boot into.
