Verizon targeting mid-summer for tiered data plans

well, this was in the htc thunderbolt section, which is supposed to come out (2 weeks ago?) soon, not mid-summer like the title of this thread says

who else sees this as a good thing? unless verizon tells you a specific date, and gives you a specific price, on what the tiered pricing will be, then your contract is broken when this happens right?

^ if the above is not correct then dismiss the rest of my post, and this is assuming we all won'
t be grandfathered in.

every other carrier sucks around me, so I will most certainly be sticking with verizon either way. the thing is, is if the contract is broken this summer that essentially means you are up for another upgrade come summer time right? sounds like I could just sell the tb, if I want something new coming out, and put that money towards a new contract phone+pocket money.

I feel bad for the people who basically feel they need to go with Verizon because of the service.(I suspect though its mostly for the phones:p)
I had boost mobile for a year and got by. Same exact signal as Sprint. It didnt work in my house about 40% of the time but pretty good every where else.(I had a Sprint phone for a week and it dropped calls in the exact spots as the boost phone)

I have a MPCS blackberry right now and the signal is great so far.(espcially for non 3g service) It does what I need it to do and more. I will be going back to a regular provider late in the summer but not Verizon or At&t. Most likely I will go with T-mobile prepaid.

I will bet if the latest smartphones werent so tempting for you guys or better yet if it were like 8 years ago and everyone still used regular basic phones I bet everyone would go with the prepaids. There would be no incentive to go with these lousy 2 year contracts if the playing field was level with the phones.(prepaids are catching up though)

Just not worth the hassel as far as Im concerned guys.

i think i heard that some carrier charged you data even if you used wifi? was thais att? if verizon does this i think ill buy an unlocked phone for like 500$ or whatever and scavenge for wifi :)

Having a 4G phone with tiered data pricing makes about as much sense as...nada. Companies are telling people you can have finally have a phone that does all these great things, but you won't be able to get/afford the data needed to do them. I see Verizon's going to be sure it has tiered data pricing in effect before the iPhone 5 comes out...go figure.
