[Verizon] Verizon's Leaked 4.0.4 OTA Update

I have been using SMS Backup/Restore (found in Market) for over a year with great results. My flash process starts with an SMS backup, Titanium, then Nandroid.

Once the flash is over, I restore my messages with SMS Backup/Restore and my apps with TiBU.

Using Titanium....

Do you back up all your apps? Or do you skip the Google apps?

Wouldn't 4.04 or a Custom ROM with a it's own set of Gapps, include the Google type apps?

So...wouldn't I use Titanium for the "market" apps only?

I skip any system apps/google apps and only backup market apps I dnld'd. And I only restore the app not the app+data. That's just me though. Nary an issue.

Thank you jbdan...

I currently have the 4.04, and my apps rolled right over, but I'm looking to GummyNex so I can install your new SOFTKEY MOD and lean kernel.

As for 4.04 (rooted), I'm seeing worse battery life from 4.02 (unrooted).

Looking at my battery life history, it seems that my phone idle is running much more with the 4.04. At the end of 12-14 battery life, I used to see 4-7% usage from my phone idle.

The last couple days the phone idle has been using about 15-17%. Seems oddly high.

I also dropped 3 calls today at work with 3 bars of 4g. I've never dropped a call at work.

Not really impressed. I'm thinking since this is not the official release, that there may be some glitches still.

I placed the update in my cache and I'm not sure what to do next. You said "and then boot to stock recovery, (as long as you didnt delete the stock recovery image) and install it that way." How do I install from cache?

have the Nexus SW upgrade completed? I turned mine off and turned it back on. The screen has been displaying "Downloading ... Do not turn off target" for the last hour. Is this expected? How long does it take to download the SW update? The VZW Tier-2 Rep told me to sit tight for a few hours. 8-(

it is always a good idea to clear the battery stats in cwr, of course after a full charge!

I don't have a link but the myth of clearing battery stats has been debunked by one of the Google Devs. Not trying to be rude or condescending, just passing along info.

First of all, if a Tier-2 Rep couldn't give you the answer that I am about to provide, it should give you more incentive to just come here where we, the community, have the answers more often than some dodo at VZW. LoL!

What you accidentally did was enter Odin, which is a way one can update stock firmware images, rarely useful for a Nexus user. Since this question was posed in a thread in all things root, I suspect you are unlocked and rooted. Anyway, just pull the battery and when you power up, be sure to not hold the volume buttons. I can't remember right now which volume button, in conjunction with the power button, will take you into Odin. I want to say power and volume down. Either way, I hope that answers you question.

Edit: FYI, your phone cannot download an OTA while in Odin...not possible. One has to manually flash a signed factory image in Odin. Again, nothing to worry about. Follow the instructions above and you should be cool. Pardon my long winded response :D

I have never rooted my phone and am using the stock 4.0.2 ICS. ODIN is displayed on my screen. What should I do?

Okay...No worries that you aren't rooted. Just pull your battery. I don't know how to get out of Odin otherwise, mostly cos I only entered it once. Anyway, just pull your battery and boot back up. You just accidentally power on with a volume button being depressed, volume down I believe. Let me know what happens.

I got my phone working again. Still at 4.0.2 ICS. Thanks for your help.
