[Verizon] Verizon's Leaked 4.0.4 OTA Update

I am currently running 4.0.2 with no other changes but I previously changed the recovery-from-boot file to recovery-from-boot.bak in the system folder to make CWM stick, will this cause me any problems when trying to flash the 4.0.4 update?

Curious what you think of it. I ran it for a day and really liked it. However, I got used to my Liquid mods, center battery, separate volume controls, nav bar mods etc. and flashed back after a day. But everything works that's for sure and it's pretty quick too. I flashed a kernel over it, Imo 1.9 but that was just cause I wanted to compare with the same kernel.

Yeah that's exactly what the zip file does. You do it the professional way, I do it the easy way. :-) I'm in recovery so much these days that I don't even question it any longer. But I do it from adb, not very fond of RM or the menu button way. You're using touch beta 5 right?

Edit: do you do a remount or reboot to get it running after the push?

Hey guys, since this is my first OTA update, I gotta ask a question....

Does going from 4.0.2 to 4.0.4 remove all your data? I will make a nandroid backup first anyway, but if everything goes OK, it will keep all my apps/user data in tact, correct?

If not, will restoring a nandroid backup via CWM put me back to 4.0.2, or to people just use Titanium Backup for post-OTA-update restorations?

Thanks!

I personally think my way is the easy way, but I don't have any fears of playing around with /system I nearly bricked my og droid enough to get a pretty good idea of what you can/can't do in there :p

I am also using the original CWM that has the buggy volume key nav so that makes using recovery a PITA;) That comes more down to being lazy than anything else on my part.

I usually reboot just to follow what I have always done but in reality as soon as I put it in /system/app and press the home button it becomes an option, perhaps this is a no SD thing or a ICS thing I have pushed it a few times and not rebooted and had no issues using it as a system app.

No, no data is wiped!

Ya, if you backed up while on 4.0.2, restoring that back-up would put you back on 4.0.2.

Are Radios backed up on a nandroid? Was wondering if I could nandroid my current rom, flash to stock, flash new radios, then do a nandroid restore and have current rom and new radios.?

To answer your question, no a nandroid will not save the radios. But if all you want is the new radios and boot loader, then you can just flash back your radios/boot loader to 4.0.2 then flash just the 4.0.4 radio/boot loader and never touch your ROM.

Yea I just realized that's what the other thread was, I'm on a 4.03 rom but still stock radios

I am on 4.0.3 and would like to move up to the new 4.0.4 radio...so how can you flash just the radio and not loose your current rom and stuff?

Also, if you have to flash back to 4.0.2 then you are loosing your current Rom and settings...correct? Then install the 4.0.4, but then you can't install a custom Rom or you will loose 4.0.4, unless that Rom is built on 4.0.4...correct?

Is the ringer volume actually fixed in this release?

Once you go back to 4.0.2 and do the OTA 4.0.4 update, then if you flash any custom roms will you loose the new radio?

Also, does this update fix the low ringer volume? Volume+ seems to help with the headphones, but does nothing for the actual speaker/ringer volume.

You can get just the radios from the "guide" page at the top of this forum.

I flashed back to the stock 4.0.2 radios first, I don't "think" it matters but I played it safe.

To answer your question yes you can flash just the radios, that's what I did...

I'm running GUMMY 4.0.3 v6.6

Yeah, I think I'll hold off on the rom for now. I did flash the new radios however. Just a FYI, there's some misinformation floating around on various sites/blogs concerning radio flashes. You can flash them (via fastboot) without worrying about progression. Just make damn sure you're flashing img's intended for the CDMA Nexus obviously.

I did see positive results from the new radios. -120 to -100 db in my basement. Would expect even better results when I get out and about.

So, basically you can just flash the new radio with fastboot without having to move back to 4.0.2? I am currently on Codename Android and the CNA kernel...so I can just flash the new radio in fastboot?

Also, what changes do flashing the new bootloader do?

Right. Looks like somebody packaged them up for recovery flash also. Personally, I'd rather fastboot flash the img's so if you're in that boat, there's a great thread for it here that gets updated regularly:
[RADIOS/BOOTLDERS/RECOVERIES][Fastboot]CDMA Galaxy Nexus TORO(Updated Feb 4, 2012) - RootzWiki

So in summary, there's more than one way to go about this, pick which one you prefer.

As for the bootloader question, idk what you can plan to expect there. Most bootloader changes I've seen on other phones have been so minor it's difficult to tell there's a change at all. Occasionally a substantial update occurs such as in the case of the original Incredible where the final hboot update gave fastboot access where it didn't exist before without the engineering bootloader from test phones.
