[Verizon] Verizon's Leaked 4.0.4 OTA Update

Nice!

I had found the link to the radio and bootloader update combo for CWMR, but had not seen the just radio only. That is mostly what I wanted for now...just the new radio.

Thanks!

FYI it always good to check the "guide" thread at the top, its not real clear by the title but the OP, contians link to MOST EVERYTHING you need for flashing, links to ROMS,themes, radios, kernals, pretty much everything.

this one:

OK, I'm no newb to flashing, been doing it with my Dinc for almost two years now. Every time I flash I download the ROM I want, go into CWR do a nandroid back up, wipe data, cache, davlik cache then install. Why is it that 4.0.4 seems like it's going to be different than that? I'm running AXI0M 2.3 with Android 4.0.3 without any problems. Baseban I515.09 VEK06/I515.EK04.

Can I flash the Verizon Leaked 4.0.4 without problem and do I have to do a data/cache wipe for it to work?

What does everyone's dBm look like? I seem to still be in the 80's range on both 3G and 4G. On my thunderbolt I used to be in the 70's for 3G and in the 50's for 4G, is this normal on the nexus? I know the lower the number the stronger the reception.

Wow, you must be very close to some VZW towers...

Here's a post I made last night re. comparing the two radios:

Here at work I'm only in the low -80s and there's a tower very close by...

Cheers!

I think the main issue here is that this is a leaked OTA 4.0.4 from VZW and to be able to install it you must be on 4.0.2. So, you will need to get back to 4.0.2 by restoring a nandroid backup or flashing back to stock 4.0.2 and then upgrade to 4.0.4.

If you are just wanting the new radio, then you can just flash whichever radio you are wanting to be on:

If you are just wanting the new radio, then I believe the only thing that needs to be stock is your radio and then flash up to the new 4.0.4 radio.

Another option is to flash TBH's full 4.0.4 (and rooted) ROM here:

Full IMM30B update (not the OTA) - MyDroidWorld

I didn't do a data wipe, just dalvik and cache. Works fine IMO. However I flashed from stock 4.0.2.

I was getting -100dBm on 4.0.3 now on .4 im seeing anywhere between -120dBm to -90dbm... that's on 3G since the town i live in currently is the only one in the surrounding areas without 4G.

google wallet used to work for me. Since I have upgraded to this update however, google wallet is no longer functioning properly. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions to get google wallet to work properly with 4.04?

So got an extended chance to test LTE reception, and I did notice some improvements in how far I got before I lost it on my way home, about two miles further. However I had to toggle airplane mode to get it to switch to 4G when I left work. So at least for me the switchover isn't great.

Since flashing the radios I am constantly -120 to -100 whereas before I was constantly between -85 to -95. Seems the new isn't as good as the old to me. Where can I find the original one and go back?

after about a week i have noticed that my signal strength is greatly improved, switching from wifi to 4g was almost instant, and screen rotate is more responsive

on the bad side it seems like charging the battery is taking longer, my battery life is slightly reduced even though keep awake is less, and GPS lock took longer than normal the two times i used GPS

anyone else getting similar results?

I'm seeing exactly the same results as you.

I'm also having problem with data on 3G and 4G. It will show solid 3 to 4 bars connect (in blue), and arrows up and down like its transferring data, but no data is actually flowing through. If I open a browser, it tells me no data connection. open any other app and it sits there trying to connect for a few minutes before it tells you there is no network. All while 3 to 4 blue bars of 3G or 4G and up/down data arrows continue to blink.

This used to happen on 4.0.2 as well but not as often as it does on 4.0.4 now.

Half the time I can't use anything data related.

Hmmm? I did the 4.0.4 radios and see much better hand-offs.

When I go to WiFi my 3/4g signal bars do not change state as if they are always on-the-ready but with no up or download indication.

When I toggled WiFi on before the 3/4g bars would gray out and go away I think?

But no way in Heck I'm gonna toss my much loved Open Kang M3 ROM in the can to run the rest of this "UN-official" stuff. I'm sure when they go 4.0.4. it will be less worrisome.

So I wait and read-on here.

Flashed this over Android Revolution (on 4.02) and then flashed the Radio. To my surprise it didn't wipe anything...all of my apps are still there, my accounts, etc... checking mobile defender now. So, I'll keep an eye on my performance to see if anything notable happens and will update as needed.

flashed this 2 days ago and see a huge improvement. havent tested all the things the update was suppose to change but i notice 3 huge things for me. first off, the battery is lasting longer. second, which probably impacted the longer battery is zero signal loss and last but certainly not least, overall speed and response snapper.

the biggest thing for me was signal. when i use to check my phones battery, i would check cell standby and look at the time without a signal percentage. it use to show anywhere between 5-20% of the time which was a huge battery drainer. since i updated 2 days ago, i have had 0% time without signal.

i use to lose data for a couple of minutes even if i had 4 bars. not sure why...just seem to lose data randomly in good coverage areas. since the update, no random loss of data....keeping my fingers crossed.

flipping through home pages and app drawer seems smoother and fast. screen rotation seems a little faster but dont really pay attention. by far the best update so far for me. was annoyed about the signal like everyone else but just learned to deal with it...now that it is better, i cant see dealing with random drops again.

did not lose any data when flashing and everything seemed to be as it was prior to the flash

Do I need to wipe before installing 4.04 via CWM, or can I just upgrade? I'd hate to reset all my home screens, again!

Depends on where you are coming from. If you're coming from a stock 4.0.2 ROM you can do what sneakking said. If you're coming from a custom 4.0.3 ROM I'd do a complete wipe

When you do a complete data wipe through Clockwork, does it erase all your apps?

If so, how do you get all your apps back when you flash this ROM or any other for that matter?

I think with 4.04, Google will keep the backup of your apps. But with another ROM, say...GummyNex, do your apps still reinstall from the market backup?

yes it wipes your apps, it does not wipe you /sdcard folder (note for those not rooted, unlocked the bootloader will wipe the sdcard)

goggle's "restore" has been hit or miss for me. you can use something like titanium backup to get your apps back. The other thing to consider is you will lose your phone call history and txt history. (ther are back-up apps for txt)
