Verizon website starts sales two days early!

This is my first post, so a few may question what I'm about to say, but what I'm posting about is what I heard today while on the phone with a Verizon Rep.

Best representative I've ever spoken with was discussing the Droid X with me (went something like this):

Rep: "Oh, you're eligible for an upgrade starting tomorrow."
Me: "Yeah, but I'll wait a couple days till the 15th for the Droid X to come out"
Rep: "Well, you should check the website tomorrow you might be able to order it, then it'll be on your doorstep when all of the other folks are getting theirs. Plus, you wont have to wait 6-8 weeks for the mail-in rebate, it'll be instant."
Me: "So you're saying I can order it tomorrow and have it by the 15th?"
Rep: "I can't say yes, but check the website tomorrow..."

I don't know if this is going to be true or not, but if so, expect the phone to be available Tuesday (7/13) online.

Unconfirmed, but this gives me a glimmer of hope...I hate shopping @ stores...any stores (except the liquor and/or beer store :)
 
So if you're not a customer and are going to be starting new service with Verizon and porting over a couple of numbers from a different provider...is that difficult to do online?
 
Who knows, it is unconfirmed, but the rep on the phone was saying he was getting the phone as well. He seemed to know quite a bit and was very confident sounding. He kept saying "well I can't say yes, but you should check the website tomorrow". Something tells me he's on to something, but only one way to find out! I'll be keeping my eyes on the website tomorrow!

Honestly Shadow, I have no idea. Dealing with bill changes and any other sort of administrative options are very easy to deal with on the Verizon website. I would imagine they have a process for new users that is fairly simple. Can someone back me up?

Me: When will it be available?
VZW: July 15th.
Me: Oh -- I thought I heard it might be available tomorrow, online. Just a rumor?
VZW: They told us it would be available the 15th. That's all the information we received. But you could check your NE2 status tomorrow and if there's a problem and the phone is available tomorrow, just contact us.
Me: Oh, so it might be available tomorrow?
VZW: I don't know, but if it is, you can contact us if there is a problem.

Ilana, it may be that some reps are more "in tune" with what's going on with pre-ordering. My rep may have had more interest and knows more, who knows. Your rep didn't seem to say definitely "no" to tomorrow. All we can do is wait until tomorrow and see!
 
I did a live chat with a Verizon rep on their website, and asked if there was going to be a pre-order. She said there wouldn't be, and just left without asking if I had any further questions. LOL, how rude /StephanieTanner

I don't know why anyone would doubt this. It makes sense, but if your delivery man comes only during evenings, then you probably should just go to the store unless you can wait that long. lol
 
If it happens it happens. If it doesn't, it doesn't. OP is simply posting the conversation with the CSR.

I hate ordering online. The fedex guy seems to come to my house the last possible minute before the 2pm deadline and the whole time i'm just staring outside my window thinking "damn i could of just went to the store wen i woke up and picked one up". But everybody look away from steven. Mebbe he won't see us :P
 
I have a preorder with Best Buy, but i'm going to try to order online when it is available. Having my activation fees waived would save me about $70.

Well, I chatted online with "Matthew". HEEEE said that online doesn't start selling the X until 11:59 THURSDAY NIGHT! HEEE said that it sells in the stores first then goes on sale midnight that night for a MONDAY delivery. I'm going to call them now that I just got off of work and see if I get a THIRD story of all this!

Just my opinion, but that doesn't make sense, and that's not what i've been told by reps at verizon over the phone as recently as saturday.
 
I been told a hour or two after midnight it would be available online Wednesday night. I asked two and both told me the same and asked what timezone and both said they wasnt sure but probably central since dallas was head quarters. I was told that if they aren't to just call CS and phone order one and ask for overnight shipping on Thursday morning.


BUT I wont trust any of them until it happens
 
I think I'm ordering online after the local store stated "we will not be taking pre-orders" over the phone, only to have me walk in today and hear them telling someone they are already sold out on launch day. I hate them.
