Help Version Update?

I have been updated. I was just about to go to bed too. It just happened a few minutes ago. A big message screen came on and said something to the effect of "your phone is going to be disabled during an update enhancment. The update will start in 30 seconds". Then i watched as it counted down. It said "restarting phone" and then a box with an arrow coming out of it pointing at the top of the head of the little android guy appeared with a message in red letters at the bottom of the screen. it said to not shut off the phone and plug in the power cord "as possible". I don't think that's correct English.

Anyway i ran speed tests from all the servers and they were higher than ever and most of the latencies were below 100ms. One was actually over 200. Way to go Samsung and Metro. Good lookin out.

Could someone root, grab ShootMe on the Market, and take a screenshot of their About Phone screen (scrolled all the way down)?

As you can see it updated the CDMA and LTE baseband version i dont know what the PDA part is but that is also EE07 and the build number updated to EE07 as well

It rolled out in Philly throughout the night as well. I'm rooted so I cant help you on that zip file either.

OK so far, the update has fixed my WIFI problem which i will monitor closely. Lately (past 7-10 days) when I enable WIFI it will show the WIFI indicator at the top but it would also be showing 1x for signal strength too. While that was happening, I would not be getting WIFI speeds, simply 1x speeds. Speed test would actually freeze up because of how slow it was, more than half the time I couldnt even "find closest server." So far today I am good. I will try again tonite and post back. I'll also try in an hour or so before i leave for work.

Any of you that got the update are rooted or not? I haven't seen anything on my phone (NYC). Do i have to be in LTE mode? Just curious if you have to be un-rooted. Man is there something in there terms that allow them to update my phone with out my consent. I never heard of this before, But i guess they don't give a S since there target market don't have the funds to sue. They should trial carefully as they are attracting a different demographics now with this phone me included. Anyway I guess i will leave my phone on LTE and see what happens. What is also scary to me is the fact that they are doing this Force update on your phone over night. Hoping people wont notice. Anyway just a thought. HERE COMES THE BIG QUESTION

WHAT DOES THE UPDATE DO?
I'm not even going to bother calling Metro, because they are stupider then stick. It like asking my grandmother about the phone. Anyway any website that break down the update. I'm mostly worried about being monitored. I hate when you sign up for something and next thing you know there is a bunch of junk mail/email coming your way or when company profit of me with out any incentive in return.

im in nyc as well i got the update overnight dont see anything different but will see thru out the day its still early

.

I rooted my phone when the guys here first got it working. I removed all the bloat and a few wav files then unrooted, the update hit my phone when lte was off. So far I've actually noticed better signal, and it seems like my battery is lasting longer. By the time I wake up my phones dead if not plugged in. This is not the case now still got about half charge. I'm not sure if this has to do with the update or just my phone but it seems as iff the phone is using 10 more mb of ram constantly now

No update yet for me in SF Bay...

My CDMA still has EA29
and my LTE: unknown

But again, I haven't been able to access 4g in a week. :(

You have to notice it happening because it makes you click "OK" once the phone is rebooted, also i wouldnt worry about being monitored so much from metro, you're already paying them they are already profiting off of you, the APPS you download pose a greater threat in this area. I've had metro for a few years, i've never got emails from them but once in a while you get a message about some new feature, are they selling your information? Doubt it. if you make an app, you get paid to put advertisements in them, those advertisements might have secret scripts running to pull information about what your doing on your phone, those compaines that own the advertisements sell that info. IT's too bad google had to pull some tom-foolery with it's code,(if you dont know what i'm talking about... well GNU/linux uses the gpl which says basically any software is free and i can change it and share it to who ever i want, but they also MUST be able to redistribute freely, it's called a copyleft. google took their code from a portion of the GNU/linux kernel which is freely available and under gpl. illegal to profit on any way other then charging for tech service. well when they locked their code from the outside world, alot of the people who actually made the original code ((and apps for)) also got locked away from it, If google didnt, there would be a heck of a lot more dev's working with android. I dont know why they did it, either because they saw the huge market potential, and well i guess the GPL was pretty much a manifesto written by some kid, then he posted it online, now it's everywhere. Is that really legally binding? I remember many crying gnu/linux enthusiasts screaming you stole our code!!! give it back!!! P.s I have also noticed i can press anyone of the home keys now to turn the screen on, before i had to hit the power button EVERY time

Yes I noticed that also ..what a relief as it was a pain in the arse
having to hit the power button each time .

My phone is Rooted and no it did not affect the rooting,

now this is from one insider we have over on HowardForums im just transporting the message here...

Main reason for the update is this:

4G Connectivity LTE Radio and CDMA Radio

^^ Hope to see all this! Would help me immensely.

OK, the fix about the software sending an SMS message to the wrong contact is hilarious...
and depending on the contact...dangerous.

Why do those driscriptions of the 4G not look like they are going to help my issue at all with my 4G dropping all the time.

Hmmmm guess ill believe it when I get it.
