vibrant tips and tricks

for sms message threads, is there a way to split off a message from a thread? how about locking a thread, so that any additional messages from that person creates a new thread?

Thanks for all of the tips everyone.

How do you add more than one number to a contact? The only option I see is for a cell number. I want to be able to add house numbers, work number etc.

I'm also new to android as well and downloaded the wallpaper app. I saved a few that I liked, but I don't know where to find them?

tap where it says mobile in edit contact, and a list should pop up, allowing you to select, home work, etc.

i think photos save to the sdcard so check the gallery

The straight side of the microUSB cable faces the left side of the phone when looking at the screen. The side that has a curve to it faces the right.

I didn't realize that immediately and always had to take a close look at the *tip* of the cable to determine proper orientation.

If it makes it even easier, the USB symbol imprinted on the cable is always supposed to face up. So far I've only ever had one device that didn't follow that rule.

I just got the Vibrant and I transfered all my contacts from my old phone to it (206 contacts). But in order 2 store them in the T959, I have 2 do it 1 by 1 ,there's no way of adding them to T959 contacts in 1 shot?tks

if your old phone is google from just load it to your gmail contact then when you register your gmail in your vibrant, it'll automatically load all your contacts.

How about when navigating any page online, click and hold any phone number(no matter if it's a link) and you have the option to call or save the number. I found this by accident trying to cut and paste.

How does one set text alerts to vibrate when your ringer is set to vibrate. Only way for me to find out if I have a text when I'm at work and my ringer is set to vibrate is to hit the power button on the side to light the screen up.

Messaging>Menu>Settings>Vibrate should work, though it will vibrate when the ringer's on too. AFAIK, when you set the phone to vibrate, any notifications with vibrate enabled will do so.

I went through every menu in phone settings. never thought to check out message settings. Manny thanks.:D

Question about panorama, can we take say just 5 or 6 pics instead of 8? I tried hitting back or menu and neither worked.

Just press the Camera button on the right to process the pics you've taken in panorama mode. You don't have to actually take all the pics.

Whenever I have a missed call lately my display light stays on and it drains my battery. Anyone else having this problem? Fixes?

Simple question:

Is there a setting or an app to allow the lock button to turn the screen OFF? The Behold II worked this way, so I could have my screen time out set to 3 minutes or whatever, but if I wanted to IMMEDIATELY turn off the screen, I'd just hit the lock button.

I've noticed that hitting the lock/power button on the lock screen will instantly shut it off, but I'm more worried about being in an app or on the home screen.

You mean besides the one on the right side of your phone that should instantly turn off your screen? Long press brings up power off option, but a short press should turn off your screen until pressed again.

But thats what the lock button does. Also it doesn't matter if you are in an app or on the home screen, where ever you were when you hit the lock button, is where you will be when you go back.

moderator do you have any way to move this to the top of this thread? perhaps this should be a sticky?

Or just pm the original poster and have them edit the top post to include this. A mod shouldn't be editing user's posts except to relocate or delete.

THat's the thing: It doesn't.... Unless I'm in the Lock Screen.

If I'm in the Home Screen or in an App on the Behold II, and I hit the Lock Button, the screen shuts off.

If I'm in the Home Screen or in an App on the Vibrant, and I hit the Lock button.... Nothing happens. Long press brings up the power/airplane/silent menu.

Hence my confusion.

I don't understand this. Where do we get the png file?

Let me google that for you

Also, is there anymore tips and tricks?

I hate sliding my lock screen all the way to the edge, sometimes I miss.

And I dont like the sliding pattern lock screen.

I do like the puzzle piece lock screen, but that only shows up once in a while it seems like 1 out of 50.

Is there a way I can set the puzzle lock screen to default lock screen?

Or any cool good lock app?

Can the start up and shutdown splash screen be turned off or changed? I find it loud and annoying:mad: The T-Mobile salesperson, when asked, said "It's Android, everything is customizable".

Also, I get random email notifications in the status bar from many of my email accounts, that are so late...they notify me of emails I checked online hours earlier. I like this phone, but it is a MAJOR step down IMO from the blackberry environment for managing email.

Why is it so hard to make customized ringtones for my contacts? I called T-Mobile, and they said I had to export everycontact to SIM crd, then import, then blah blah blah. Are you kidding me?

Contacts on your Sim card you can give them a ringtone from teh phone. I dont know what T-Mobile is talking about. I dont so it though. I can see who it is when they call.

T-Mobile also makes it hard for you to load all your contacts on a new phone if you dont save them all to your sim card..which doesnt give you the options you need in the phone.
For you to load all your contacts to your phone who arent on your Sim card you have to go to the site, log in and add them manually yourself and the way they have it setup is confusing imo. But then you can link it to your phone and they will load up but it looked like a pain in the ass to me to do.

Here is what I did to get a black screen wallpaper. I went into my bathroom and closed the door, no windowd so no light at all. I took a picture and used that as the wallpaper. Seems easier than creating a file on my computer and transfering it over. So what does everyoe think? Let the arrows fly!:D
