Root [VIDEO GUIDE] Test Mode/No service fix (# to Hidden Menu)

Finally got my esteem back rolling. Mucho kudos fuzzy. Only thing I'm upset about now is I basically paid $129 for a coolpad quattro I only used for a week

Glad your back up and running.

Sell that Coolpad on Ebay or Craigslist. You should be able to get most your money back out of it. Newer Metro phones do hold their value well, I'll give em that.

This got my phone out of test mode, but i am unable to reprogram for use. I have called the reps at least 5 times and went through the stages, but it wont stick after the reboot. Im kind of lost, i know if i take it to the store they will get me in the CWM bootloop. Should i downgrade and then let LG Mobile Tool do its job of upgrading again?

Upgrading wont reprogram the phone. Several people have had issues with the settings sticking and I have no answer for this. I don't know why they wont stick. Could be something on the phone causing it.

You can try and put the phone back to 100% stock, downgrade and then upgrade if you wish, and THEN try to enter the info in LGNPST. That's all I can think of.

After I called the reps and went through the whole reprogramming thing it still wasn't working for me. Don't ask me how or why but after I gave lgnpst one more shot and just basically wrote everything back to the phone that was already on there again it worked. Try it

Make sure all firewalls and antivirus programs are off when registering the dll.

hmm, i disabled windows defender and my firewall, and im still getting the same error. anything else i should try to do?

Something is blocking you from registering it.

You can try this. It takes a little bit of computer knowledge.

I've got 2 ways you can try to register the ms910.dll

navigate to C:/windows/system32 and find the application named regsvr32

Once you find it DRAG the ms910.dll from your desktop and release it OVER the regsvr32. Literally on top of it. Drag and release it. It should run the register process.

If that doesn't work try this. Little more advanced but not hard.

Open command prompt via "Run" type CMD.exe and hit enter. Command window should open up.

You have to make the path inside of command read the path of your desktop because that's where the .dll is saved too. At least it should be. Move it if not.

When you open command the path should read something like this

C:/users/fuzzy

If it does you need to type this beside the path inside of command

cd desktop

This will make the path the path of your desktop but inside of command.

C:/users/fuzzy/desktop is what it should read. Obviously not fuzzy but YOUR computer name.

NOW type this beside the path

regsvr32.exe ms910.dll

This should register the dll. Make sure you enter everything exactly as I have written it. Spaces and everything.

Hope this helps.

it's seems it doesn't want me to register it haha, i noticed you wrote "MS910.dll" do i have the wrong one? i have VS910.dll. I have looked through the C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST folder and i can not seem to find the Models folder. from your guide i look at the 64 bit fix.

EDIT: nvm i finally figured it out :P, now the next problem is that i don't have my phone showing up in the com ports, its an unknown device

EDIT EDIT: I got it to work, thanks for all the help fuzzy, the cmd method worked like a charm +1

So everything is good?

Like it says I can't txt or call. I know my bill I'd and other phones on my account can rxt and call. I don't really know what to do. Any thoughts?

I've been trying to get this to work for the past 3 days and I can't.
I just registered because I really need help. ):

I've downloaded everything, all files have been installed and registered, but when I go to my ports my phone is NOT showing up.
And I know your thread says I must have installed the drivers incorrectly, so I tried installing again and again. Everything is working fine, I'm getting no errors, nothing.

But when I plug in my phone it just charges and nothing on my computer pops up or recognizes it at all. I've tried checking and unchecking USB debugging mode, I've tried my connectivity as Internet Connection, Mass Storage and even Charge Only (I knew that one wouldn't work.. but you get my point lol).

I'm really sad this isn't working, and I've tried giving it to friends to try to fix it with linking your thread and they either give up or tell me they can't.

I've tried to Google and look at other threads but my phone just doesn't show up. I've followed the thread and even watched the video. Everything goes smoothly until I go to my ports and my phone isn't there.

Please help.. ):

Okay, do you have USB debugging turned on on your phone? Make sure this is turned on and then see if the port shows up. USB debugging is in the settings. Where exactly I cant remember.

If that still doesn't work.

The drivers might be running and installing fine but something is preventing them from actually installing. Make sure that all your firewalls and antivirus programs are not just off, but closed out. I've even had problems sometimes with the antivirus program just being on my computer. Turning it off didn't help, I had to actually uninstall the thing. Not talking about this happening in this particular guide, but just in general.

It's best to have EVERYTHING closed out that you don't currently need. Anything that you have running other than your internet browser should be closed out and not running. Also, make sure you uninstall the drivers before going back and trying to install them again. This way you are installing them fresh instead of installing them over the existing installation. You can uninstall them by going to my computer and there should be a tab at the top to uninstall programs. Scroll down till you find it and right click uninstall. Wouldn't hurt to reboot your PC after you uninstall.

Thank you so much for the reply! After trying everything, I tried switching USB cords and that worked. (I don't know why one only charged my phone and the other actually make the computer recognize it?) Leaving this reply in case anyone after me has the same problem, it might be the simplest thing.

Also when I did everything, my calls were directed to the American Roaming Something and I still couldn't send texts, so I called *611 and Metro programmed my information again (My MIN was different than my phone number!) Now my phone works, after trying for 3 days to fix it.

Thank you so much for this guide, you saved me hundreds of dollars with this phone. :) Again, thank you!!!

Yeah that whole cord issue got me one time.

Glad your back up. ;)

Just wanted to say thank you for the test mode fix. =] i had been down for pretty much a week now, and had gone to metro and they said it was a virus. but i had not downloaded anything recently for that to be a possibility. they to told me they were going to order a new one for me, last thursday... then i went back 4 times to see if it had come in. nothing. turns out there were no Esteems to order anyhow... so i decided to fix it myself. i started searching and tada! brought me here. my MIN wasnt the same as my number either so i called them at 2am (lol) and they helped me get it straightened out right then and there. once again. just wanna say thanks for the information. and i hope someday i can contribute to the community as well.

It never amazes me how little employees and manufactures know.
