Root [VIDEO] HowTo UnRoot Incredible by downgrading

hey so i followed this video to downgrade my incredible so i can get the official update. But now my contacts are all gone. I did have the mylookout backup which backed up all my contacts but the stupid thing is that it doesnt have their numbers, just their names and maybe email. Is there a way to get the numbers back. Could i boot into recovery or somethin and go into a past stage of my phone to get the stuff back? plz help. Also how do u back up ur contacts cause mylookout doesnt always work well.

Being that this is a google phone, you should be using google contacts, which automatically sync to the cloud. So that's my recommendation to you is to get all your contacts updated with your google account, then you never have to worry about backing them up.

If you did a nandroid, you could restore that. Otherwise, you are SOL.

What did you downgrade from? Did you have Titanium Backup by chance when rooted? Did you do Nand backups along the way? Both of those are retrievable once you get back up and running. Were you s-off?

need help, i downgraded my incredible back to stock, now having trouble getting the OTA may update 2.1, the red exclamation shows up when i restart my phone and hboot it, then i press the power and volume up key, brings up the blue and yellow screen i go to recovery, and some error happens it says E: signature verification failed or something. any idea's?

i did all this and no loading bar came up when i hit power/volume.

i reformatted my sd card to FAT32 and put all the files back on and it still doesnt wrk. what am i doing wrong?

Thanks a lot DiegoMejia , I used the 2nd method and worked exactly as in your YouTube video, step by step, and now I have the oficial OTA Froyo 2.2 on my DInc.

Just a small hint, HBOOT did not recognize the PB31IMG.zip file for the downgrade at first, but I found that my SD card was formated as FAT not FAT32, so you may need to add a comment on your video that the SD card should be FAT32 before you start the downgrade

Thanks :)

ok so nothing is working for me....cant get the CMD to work i am totally lost and not understanding how to do this. Unrevoked3 with upgraded radio and i cant for the life of me get what to do. I have watched the second video over and over and over and i am not understanding the SDK part or CMD part. sorry i am a newb and thought that rooting with unrevoked would be cool and easy but now i want to go back and am completely lost! can somebody dumb down those portions of the video that involve the SDK and CMD parts? please thank you

So I followed the guide and it unrooted my phone as promised, But

Before I unrooted i was getting the froyo update prompt every 5 minutes. Since I unrooted it has yet to prompt me for the 2.2 Froyo update. When I go to settings-phoneinfo-systemupdates it states my phone is currently up to date. When i check my current software it then states im running firmware version 2.1 update 1....

How do i get my phone to update to 2.2 I have also tried dailing *28899 but it just updates my towers and no froyo.

Anyone has an idea?

Not sure how you did unrevoked without the SDK. If you haven't already installed it, you need to grab the android SDK, and your phone drivers, and install them on your computer. Then you can execute the commands. I have this process outlined here:

Unrevoked doesn't actually require the SDK. All that the SDK would have provided to the Unrevoked process is the drivers and the Unrevoked Wiki provided a link to the drivers.

Hi guys, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place... A friend of mine gave me a droid incredible that he claims to have bricked... have searched the site, and tried a few things, but none have worked... I believe I am having a problem with the bootloader. I think i have the appropriate files on the root of the sd card, but have to way to flash them. I get to the boot screen, and have the options for FASTBOOT - RECOVERY - CLEAR STORAGE - SIMLOCK - FACTORY RESET. When doing a factory reset, the phone boots up, but when it gets to the lock screen, it freezes and I have to pull the battery to power it down... Any suggestions or ideas?

When you go into recovery do you get the ! in the triangle or is it Clockwork mod? If rooted + Clockwork you can try a nand restore first of all, then try a rom and install from SD card via Clockwork. If all that fails or you're stuck with the stock recovery, you can try to load a system image via hboot. Note that we name ours PB31IMG.zip instead of PB00IMG.zip that I believe is the standard for the Eris.

And if you're making it into hboot, much less the lockscreen...it ain't bricked.

OK. I need to unroot, get phone completely back to stock as I am selling.

I have Virtuous 2.7, Radio 2.15.00.09.01

Questions:

What process do I follow? First video, second video, something completely different?
Do I downgrade the radio to the 1.whatever first, last, can I even?
Once I have done that, how do I turn S-ON?
Thanks in advance

So I'm rooted with the ROM from the 2.2 update (from XDA), with the 2.05 radio. Will the video from the first post at the end of it, work since I have that radio?

I installed the downgrade but now I cannot see the pop-up to upgrade to 2.2 did I do something wrong? It says I am up.to date but I am at 2.1 for my firmware. Hope I can fix this.

Hello,

just a quick question, I've followed all of the steps perfectly but for some odd reason i've had to do it twice for it to take affect. Now could that be because I was rooted to Unrevoked 3.21 then flashed to Forever AND had skyraider 3.0RC + the 3.2RC update?

I still got it back to a fresh clean state but I have to download the May update then install that then the 2.2 update to get my phone trully up to date. I was just wondering if my hypothesis was correct for the reason why i was having to run the downgrade twice for it to take affect

So I did the downgrade and I'm back at 2.1-update1 and baseband 1.xxxx

However I haven't gotten the 2.2 update notification for like 3 days. I had it popping up all the time with my rooted 2.1. I tried the *228 and checkin steps, didn't help. Any ideas? Should I call Verizon and see if they can push the update to me?

Ok so I did this and when I reboot it reboots back into recovery.. Any thoughts?

*UPDATE* I went through the steps again. It worked the second time. Still waiting on update though. I have faith it will get sent..:)

Thanks for the video.
