Root [Virgin Mobile] CyanogenMod 10.2 Stable Release/Official CM 11 Upcoming! (Edit: It's Here!!)

Just wanted to note that I was not able to receive mms with the MK5 modem while using hangouts. Flashing to MG2 was the only thing that worked. Unless there was some issue related to timing somehow, it seems something else is likely to blame.
 
I can also confirm that with the LTE fix I am able to send and receive MMS over LTE using Hangouts and not the stock messaging app. :thumbup:

I'm on MK5 with Knox by the way.

Would you mind explaining how I should install the Blackout Hangout. I uninstalled the original Hangout then flashed their Hangout but when I have it about 10sec my phone automatically downloaded the stock Hangout instead of the Blackout one and now I have the stock instead of the Blackout one. How do I get the Blackout version to stick and not the normal stock version? Thanks.

They are unfortunately one version behind right now, so Google Play is going to detect the need to "update" and give you the newest version. You mainly have to just pay attention to the version numbers. Sometimes Google updates faster than TBO can modify.

I guess I can wait.Thanks though, I would have spent the next hour or so flashing and uninstalling Hangouts haha.

I got it to stick!

Steps:
* Uninstall Hangouts
* Flash Blackout Version
* When you boot up, Google will update Hangouts to newer version
* Go into Play Store
* Click on Uninstall Hangouts
* Launch Hangouts
* Profit

Hopes this helps others!
 
All right my friends, as a Christmas present to you all, here is the 12/25 nightly from CyanogenMod Team. No major bug fixes or anything that would normally justify flashing for me personally, but I snuck in a message for you guys that will show up when you are flashing in recovery, so watch the screen while the flash is taking place!

If you flash these GApps as well, you will retain the option of using AOSP SMS versus Hangouts, AOSP Keyboard, and a few other things. These, like the ROM, are not my original work, they have just been debloated of apps I don't use on my phone. However, any app that I have removed is available from the Play Store, so nothing to really worry about! Installing this package properly may require a clean ROM install first, instead of a dirty flash.

Anybody wanting to theme Hangouts in "Blacked Out" fashion, check out this set of themes on the Play Store. There is a link for a flashable .zip which will black out (invert) your Hangouts app, but the theme is well worth downloading as well (this link takes you to one of the free versions offered by the dev, but the extended, paid versions are a great way to support an awesome dev and make your device look super sick at the same time!); I have used his Blackout theme before and really like it.

Update: Installed the paid version of this theme just a couple of minutes after making this post, holy cow, it is beyond sick! Everything blacked out/inverted just the way I like, with nice blue accents. Having Hangouts alone get themed makes me happy; I honestly don't know why Google chooses some of the color combinations and light backgrounds that they do. Play Store is the worst offender, but this theme takes care of that as well. Loving it!

I am going to try it now. I always worry because my 4g and everything else is working so great on the last few roms but i will do the flash anyway and check it out.
