Virgin Mobile might release a software update

On the twitter page Virgin is stating that the ota update is being rolled out over the next 4 days. I think that they're doing it in waves, same thing happened when they updated the Intercept to FroYo.

I saw that too. I'm super hoping I can take it the being s off and unlocked bootloader.

S-OFF isn't a problem, the unlocked. maybe not, but if you have a custom recovery then forget it. Since I've had the phone from the release date I personally am going to wait and see if it actually fixes anything but most importantly does it break anything. Plus within 24 hours of others being a guinea pig a dev will have it pulled apart and made into a flashable zip so no matter what hacking has been done to your phone it'll be safe to install. Like the saying goes :fools rush in.
 
I think I got it a couple times since about a month ago, but it's never been a problem. But from what I understand, if you use a 3rd party app to text (I use ChompSMS) it is not a problem.

You'll still get the error plus some text apps aren't compatible with certain roms. The biggest problem isn't a text message not going through because while it's a pain you're aware of it and can just resend it, the major issue is that sometimes you won't receive text messages or phone calls and have no notification.
Edit : another problem with 3rd party messaging apps is because of the screwy way that Virgin uses for mms a lot of them have major issues sending mms especially to a different carrier.
 
have had this phone for almost a week now. no problems till today ... getting sms error message almost every message i send ... -_-.. im planning on using the phone for at least 1 year ...
 
Go to the update section in your phone and check for HTC updates. That's what I did and it showed up and I downloaded it earlier today. I didn't get a message I manually checked for it.
 
Did the update on a "stock" rom, but with modified hboot and s-off. Phone would not boot at that point. Did RUU to put on fully stock rom. Updated. Radio version is now 1.09.00.0706. Actually got a -76 db reception inside my house which I've never seen. Although I did see it drop to 1x at one low reception area.
 
Go to the all things root area, and find my update thread. Krowley was nice enough to make flashable zips ;)
