WHAT I DID:

MG2_Ryder is a ROM build from pulling most files from my phone and editing / adding some stuff. Its fully deodex'd and ziplined. I debloated the ROM as best as I could (pulled unwanted apps) - its an ongoing battle. I also provided a link to "rebloat" the ROM if someone wants all the extras. I originally worked on trying to port the Hyperdrive ROM, but decided it would be smoother just to take a stock MG2 and added want I wanted. A lot of my inspiration came from that ROM so big props to the HyperDrive team.

--I then pulled some .png files from themes and created 2 full themes for you. Xperia theme mod with addons and the Sense 5 mod. I also prefer the clock to be centered on my phone - so Ill have that option for you as well

I will also try to create a flashable "Return to stock" package. It will also reset system files and most primary ROM files all in one. Ill also repackage some Sprint Kernels and (test first) for you to try - with return to stock kernel of course.

Version 1: [FULL WIPE]

DOWNLOAD ROM HERE


-Install Instructions:
-Nandroid backup your previous rom
-Factory reset / Clear Cache + Dalvik
-Flash ROM
If you get a Superuser error select fix (doesn't matter either way)​
-Boot (First boot may take a little bit)
-wait 10min (dont do anything - let it sit - nothing!)
-Reboot
-Flash Theme is wanted
-Boot
*Profit !!!


SUGGESTIONS & NOTES
  • DO NOT flash more than 1 package at once without booting first. IE: Flash a theme - boot - then flash the center clock mod - boot. This will ensure a good flash.
  • The Kernel installed is the MG2 Stock kernel from the Kies download. I suggest you try the KT747 kernel Ive had good lock with it so far. Install that kernel after ROMs first boot.
  • Viper4Android driver choose "CortexA8 with NEON". After reboot go into Viper4Android settings and choose Safe Mode...reboot again. Test.

Notes on Battery Life
Point to note here is that Google sucks when it comes to battery life. 3 things I do that makes a large impact to battery life:

1. Ditch Gmail. Its a bettery hog. Try another email app. I prefer Maildroid.

2. Ditch Google Maps. Huge drain here. It always trys to fix your postion and wakelocks all the time. I use WAZE but there are others out there.

3. Turn off location services (really why would you have it on?) System Settings > Location Services > Uncheck all three

ROM REBLOATER
If you flash this it will re-install all the apks (programs) I removed. Warning all those Virgin Mobile auto install apps will return too.




STOCK CENTER CLOCK MOD
This will center the clock and make status bar full transparent




RETURN TO STOCK MOD
If you want to clear out the themes and return to a stock setup this is what you flash. You should be able to go from theme to theme without this first though.




TRY A DIFFERENT KERNEL?

This is the MD7 KERNEL (1st generation) kernel for our phones:



Sprint MD4 FREEZA KERNEL
This is a MD4 kernel made by Freeza I pulled from a ROM. Boots fine with a build.prop edit (flash does it). Its basically a stock MD4 with native init support and optimized. I ran it for a few days.




Sprint MD4 KT747 Kernel
I repacaked this kernel as well to make the proper build.prop edit to get LTE back. This kernel also comes with the Developers (Give him thanks / donate) kernel tweaker app. So far rock solid and camera WORKS! This is the kernel to test out IMO.

For the KT747 since Ive created a Universal LTE MOD download the KT747 kernel (4.2.1 TW version) from his site. Then flash my Universal LTE MOD

***** IMPORTANT (NOTE FROM DEVELOPER) *****
If you are using my ktoonservative governor with the Touchwiz JELLYBEAN version, you should rename /system/bin/qosmgr to /system/bin/qosmgr.bak to prevent battery drain

See kernel notes HERE. I repackaged to work with our phones. Please note CAMERA IS BORKED WITH THIS KERNEL - at least it was for me.

If you like to have the clock moved to the center of the phone (like me) then here is a Center Clock Mod. Dont flash it after the theme above without rebooting first to make sure. Along with moving the clock to the center of the status bar - it makes it 100% transparent. See pic #1

MOAR (Mother of all Roms) MOD

First you may want to go download the MOAR ROM and place it on your sdcard. Heck try it out and dontate to the MOAR team.

My goal was to take my MG2 base and add the Team Noobz MOAR features. I didn't create it - I just added their features to my ROM. Team Noobz deserves the thanks. The difference between this MOD/Addon to my ROM and the full Team Noobz MOAR ROM is this retains my MG2 Virgin Mobile base ROM.

This is still beta.

DOWNLOAD MOAR MOD HERE

NOTE: DO NOT flash any other theme mod (Xperia / Sense above) after you flash this! This MOAR mod MUST be the last thing to flash on top of my ROM. You can flash the Xperia Theme > then Sense Theme > and finally this MOAR MOD just fine, so long as the MOAR MOD is the last one flashed.


Now for the real cool stuff -

After you boot and find it all works fine if you want to change the ROMs theme here is how you do it:

  • Reboot to recovery
  • Select the MOAR 5.01 ROM (yes the full MOAR ROM you downloaded) and flash it.
  • When AROMA installer starts select "Run Morphology ONLY"
  • Creat or select the theme you want. At the end if it fails just reboot - its should be fine.

The developer even include a tweaker and (in package). I wont post it in the main section above until I test it for a day or two. If it works out we will have a nice kernel that is very tweakable (not overclock though)

The KT Tweaker app rocks too

Google voice buggy?

I've got Google voice installed. Call my Google voice # with no issues. The sent a text message via Google voice.

Explain step by step how to reproduce the error. Read up on how to do a logcat? :D

Since I can't reproduce the Google voice error I'll need it. Catlog from the market works good. Use the widget function of it to capture error in text file. Attach it

7 hours and no issues. Very smooth.
 
Learning the logcat right now? Did you fix equalizer for xperia ? Haven't flash both theme yet just had little bugs
 
is there a significant speed increase or just a good rom?

are you going to make any network tweaks to enhance speed?

Build.prop tweaks in for network speed. YMMV. It's a bit peppier with the KT Kernel. I haven't ran that even a full day yet though.

The ROM is more for a good clean de-bloated stock base. Then I ported 2 themes (Sense and Xperia) for people to try out.
 
are we going to be able flash the update's over the existing rom or will we have to do another clean flash with all the data gone?

Tell you what Ill try to make both when it happens, but if something doesnt work after the "dirty flash" then go the full wipe route.


Remember what your mama always said: Always wipe it clean :D
 
Update: I repackage the newest KT747 kernel and its now in the kernel section above. Please give the kernel dev. your thanks.

The kernel is the lastest AUG 21 edition. Camera / LTE works so far.
 
i cannot access language and input :(

it hangs and crashes. ill try reboot again but idk how to produce the logcat thingy
