Root [Virgin Mobile] [ROM][MG2] <MG2_RYDER> [9/12/2013] [w/addons]

I wouldn't if I could. Developer put it in - taking it away would be wrong. Sorry :-)

Yeah, I suppose your right lol What kinds of settings have you tweaked from the kernel app so far? I've only overclocked my S3 to 1.7GHz and set the governor to smartassv2. At 1.7GHz it truly smooths out all the demanding games and apps and occasional UI stutter without adding much heat or battery drain. Antutu gives me 18200pts supposedly on par with the quad core S3. I haven't changed the scheduler, has ROW made a difference? Do you know what the kernel defaults are? Mine said interactive/cfq which seems odd...

does having a theme do anything negative to the battery? I've got one installed because I like it but if it would perform better/last longer without one then I wouldn't have a problem getting rid of it.

How do you get 18,200 points? At 1.7Ghz, I get about 16,780 points.

Try to go into phone settings > developer options > uncheck force gpu rendering.

Try different schedulers and such. The fun is tweaking and trying to find the best options.

Find a good combo post it :-)

There are so many variables but you should get around 17000-17500 on 1.7GHz normally. Sometimes I get up to 18300 or so on 1.7-1.8, and at 1.9GHz I'm always at 18000+, but I think that there's heat throttling the CPU because I get lower scores in the afternoon where it is blazing hot here in Cali, or when I'm plugged into the charger... Governor and scheduler choice matters too I've only tried ondemand and smartassv2, and you obviously get higher on ondemand etc.

Themes I made for this wont effect the battery. For the most part its changing out picture files in the framework.

hey watchout if your flashing twarp recovery on ryder rom with Sprint MD4 KT747 Kernel you get bootloop i just had to restore midnightrom and then flash back

does anyone know what i can flash rom with twarp thats compatible with sprint? thanks :)

Odd - I don't use CWM. I've been on TWRP for some time now with no issues. I flashed TWRP via Odin though. After that I stuck with that recovery cause its very good.

When I try to overclock my galaxy past 1.7 gigahertz no matter what voltage I apply it freezes up. So I'm wondering is it because the kernel is not optimized for the Virgin Mobile galaxy or is it because my CPU simply just cannot run past 1.7 gigahertz no matter how much voltage I apply?

Even though we all have the same processor they are all different. Some just dont like to overclock at all.

I'm not comfortable enough to play with the voltage just yet. I've taken my S3 all the way to 2.1GHz, and it hasn't frozen up on me yet, but what I do notice is that my scores in antutu plateau and lessen the higher I go from 1.9GHz. Maybe it means that I need to give it more voltage to take advantage of the higher frequencies, but at 1.7GHz real world performance seems optimal and all my games run at high FPS. Not sure if anything higher than that warrants the higher battery drain.

The repackaged KT747 kernel should work in any TW based Virgin Mobile ROM.

The said what I had to do was switch some build.prop entries in my ROM to get LTE working again. If you flash my repacked KT747 kernel on punks you are replacing his build.prop with mine.

Now see they are basically the same base ROM it shouldn't impact much, if anything at all. What this tells me is since people are flashing on other ROMs I need to change from wholesale replacement of the build.prop to a script to line item edit.

Looks like I've got some work and testing to do. Lol

Ha ryder can upload aflashable zip of the twrp recovery you using I'd like to try something?
An odin tar file will work too thanks!

Ok, problem with KT747: Camera HDR doesn't work. 4G doesn't work. Cell mast doesn't work (app like Juice Defender/ Llama/ Tasker can't detect location).

Reflashing the kernel alone doesn't fix, need to flash the whole 600 meg file. After that everything works.
