Root [Virgin Mobile] Root Flashable MG2 Firmware and /system Update 8/12

I need help with my galaxy s3 I've been trying to bring it back to stock to do the ota update to mg2 and I successfully flashed your mg2 for odexed stock ROM once but I wanted to go to stock. I tried to flash supermario7347 tar. File and it worked but when I get the ota and when it tries to update on the stock recovery the little android doesn't install it and reboots. Pls help me thanks!

By they way it sounds you have either CWM or TWRP not the stock recovery installed. Correct? Im not positive but pretty sure you cant do an OTA with a non stock recovery.

it should be noted i too have return to stock using the zip and kies and i still have ota issues trying a odin md7 combo zzip flash to see if that fixes it.

well i went ahead and rooted went with punkman slimmer stock rom. did a scrtn and reactivated with self help. all issues are cleared up but according to aboiut phone status my baseband is md7 but build prop says it is mg2... well ill see it lte wakes up at work it so i think ill put up with it.
 
i have problem with mg2 too
i had old slim version stock rom that i backed up long ago before mg2 was out and i restored it and accident update to mg2 with the old slim version or stock im not sure. but is there way to get back with my root or cusgom version i tried few things on recovery mode and it ket saying vertification error or something
 
If you have a MG2 modem installed but the files in /etc/firmware is from say MD7 then in the settings>about will indicate MD7. May also have LTE issues.

I read that thread, and it sorta ended with someone having an issue, and Jupiter telling people not to use it. Has it been updated and is it good to go?
 
Boost and VM have similar firmware but they're not exactly the same. You may end up with 4G or MMS not functioning properly among other things if you flash this on a Boost device
 
Just thought I'd drop in to share my thanks. Using TWRP recovery and deodexed Punk rom, flashed the two updates and fixed root permissions without a problem. Firware change is reflected in system as well. Much appreciated.
