Root [Virgin Mobile] [Vmobi][ROM][ALPHA] CyanogenMod Jelly Bean 4.1.2 [08.25.2013]

Wifi is causing me reboots... if I turn it off everything works fine.
Two possibilities that seem likely are that my wifi SSID has special characters in it, and that my wifi signal is weak and sometimes drops packets. I can't really change the name of my wifi (since it belongs to my landlord), but I will hook up my wireless router and test these two things out.
Will post back soon.

Same issue here

Yep. I am 99% sure it's rebooting because of the special characters in the SSID.
I can get it to crash on authentication (even with a random password), sometimes it will let me connect for a bit (with the proper password), but it always reboots.
UNLESS, I use a wifi SSID without special characters. Like I mentioned earlier my landlord sets the SSID, so I had to test this with a wireless router that I own (not connected to the internet), but I can verify that this is what is causing the reboots (at least for me).

I've gotten reboots with wifi too, and my SSID is alpha-numeric. I've pulled some logcats for Chair and g60 to pull apart. Not quite sure what the issue is, but I'll do some more debugging tonight.

I've taken this ROM through vigorous testing and have collected several logcats. Who would I send these to?

Just post on pastebin.com and drop a link. I have yet to have any issues on the Sprint side of the phone but my SSID I is just "home" nothing special and using wpa2 auth.

I had a reboot earlier in the morning after flashing like 10 seconds after all my apps downloaded but that was the only time. Otherwise took the afternoon off to get up to speed on Breaking Bad. With that said the version I have been running is a little different then what is posted as I was testing a few new blobs with my last flash about 6 hours ago. Am on an old school Verizon router at home still set up using the OG wep default set-up.

I've had three reboots in the past day since flashing, none after rebooting manually and letting it sit overnight. Only special character in my ssid is a space.

I guess I should clarify that the special characters I have used are a dash "-" and underscore "_", both have caused the reboot for me.

Well mine doesn't have special characters in it. Even when not on wifi I still get a few reboots when not in wifi but they happen much much more frequently on wifi

I've tried reproducing the reboot bug, unsuccessfully of course. Whenever I boot up logcat on the pc, it just doesn't happen. I did manage to get some fatal errors after a fatal reboot which are here

I can prepare the full log on request.

Edit: I was writing an edit to this post about my current theory about the bug, on my phone. Fortunately, my phone crashed while I was writing it, disproving my theory. I'll tinker a little more today and tomorrow.

Just to add to the details: I just got home from work, and my phone connected automatically to my wifi network (with the space in the SSID), no reboots or crashes.

Loving CM10. For an alpha, it's fantastic. A few thoughts:

Browser is a bit dodgy. Not sure if it's browser or WiFi, but ~33-50% of the time pages will stop loading until I refresh. Will test tonight at work when I have better WiFi.

Video streams: the stock video player isn't properly linked to the browser. Isn't an option for opening streams, but will open vids on my SD card. Installed MX player, works fine for streams. Also, handling videos with browser used to download them. Option is still there, but they won't DL.

Coincidentally, no option to set download path in browser.

Also, an option to turn off the backlight on the buttons would be nice :)

A+, very usable. Surprisingly smooth @ 1.2. Can't wait for a new Vae kernel :)

I've slowly been working on a BLN mod for the Victory (button lights notifications), which will give you the option of having your button back-lights flash in sync with the blue missed notification led. Should be easier to do on CM than stock Victory (love source), so keep your fingers crossed (yes I'll add a disable feature to it if I get it working).

I've already made the simple changes for uncapping the CM kernel to 1.5ghz, plan on adding in overclocking based on VaeVictus tonite or tomorrow. No reason to have a separate kernel when they are both based on Sammy's source. ;)

Just got a boot loop:

Unplugged phone, put it in pocket, went outside for a smoke. On my way outside I felt it vibrating in my pocket.

Kept rebooting at the cyanogen splash screen.

Reflashed, is fine for now.

It was either from interrupting the charge or losing WiFi signal while still connected, unless it was totally random.

Edit: reproduced by taking phone out of WiFi range again. Didn't need to reflash this time. I went into twrp and powered off, booted when I turned it back on.

Edit 2: not a fan of Trebuchet, but with Go launcher and a bit of playing with settings this is just an awesome experience. Great performance and battery life. Note: the stock governor is performance, so you might wanna switch to on demand or power save.

Edit 3: Flash works, sideloaded an apk. Stock video player works if the video loads in the browser, and can be fullscreened, but does not if you have to tap an image to load the player externally, just doesn't show up in the "open with" box.

Edit 4: getting a lot of reboots and loops. Wiping cache/dalvik seems to break the cycle, when a power off/on doesn't (usually does though). Things like unlocking the phone the second it boots, or picking an option from the browser menu the second the list appears are triggers, but not consistent. It 'feels' like when I toss different processes onto the kernel at the same time it has trouble sorting them out and panics.

If we're going to have to exit wifi range to get a logcat, somebody's gonna have to take their laptop outside with them. Maybe turning off the router works? I get reboots while I'm connected to wifi though. Ill keep my phone hooked in to adb today, maybe attempt to tinker with what parts I understand about cyanogen.

So I tried my WiFi at work and there's no special characters... rebooted me over and over until I disconnected. I have tried everything I can to clean install this and get it working but nothing helps. No WiFi for me yet I guess.
I also can't stream from Google play music.. need to test that more but am at work.
