Root Voodoo sound

Havent tried it yet myself as Im waiting for imnuts to implement it into his uv builds but will definitely give this a tryout.
Oh and I better update the One Stop Shop Thread now too.

So this affects just the headphone output or does it improve sound quality on calls/speakerphone as well? Also any recommended setting? I checked out the thread on XDA, but was hoping for some newbie info on this topic.
Thanks!

I was going to say the same thing. There are only a few options, and I am still a little lost on what they do. I was going through the thread on XDA and sort of getting the idea of some of it, but I am sure a beginner's guide would be helpful to a lot of people.

FYI, it seems those of us on BT are having issues with imnuts new 1/24 kernels with the voodoo sound. Not saying its voodoo sounds fault but that the only change added from 1/22 to 1/24

What's the issue? Connecting or getting sound?

I'll be back in a few minutes and let you know if bluetooth works on jt's 1/23 voodoo kernel with voodoo sound.

From what I understand, it's best to turn media volume to max and then use the headphone amplifier to set your volume to the appropriate level that you like.

Then when you pull up the headphone amp, your volume buttons will work properly with it (as in make it go up and down). Also, I believe you can add a swipe action to the amp volume control in your launcher if you are using LP or ADW.

Ahh yes. On the way home today from work every call would go silent on bluetooth about 20 sec. in. Once i disconnected from bluetooth everything was well.

I flashed JT's 1/23 last night. Just now listening to my BT headphones, so I can verify too that the BT works just fine. As far as the sound goes... While listening, I messed with all the settings while playing music and honestly could not hear any difference. I'm not super observant with this stuff so maybe I'm not the best judge. All I can say is that I'm not blown away. Maybe its because I'm using BT headphones? Kernel seems fine although I haven't tried to make a call and I can't verify battery life.

EDIT: ok, I tried it with normal headphones and there is definite improvement! Worth the switch =D

Yeah, there's no difference over bluetooth. It's mostly about purifying the headphone output and correcting the camcorder sound recording.

Yeah wow there is a difference with it on. Im not an audiophile but it sounds richer I think the term is. Voices are strong and just everything is good

Remember: crank the digital volume control (media volume) and attenuate/amplify the output with the analog control in the app. Use the included Headphone Amplifier app to go straight to the analog control.

I see a pretty big difference in sound. I'm using some Grado Sr60i headphones, I have the headphone amp turned all the way to the max and I use the regular media volume controls to control the volume, and I use the PowerAmp player along with some special equalizer settings for the music. I didn't think the Fascinate's sound could get better, but I've been proven wrong with the release of this kernel for Voodoo Sound. :D

Damn, this app + PowerAMP's equalizer made my music deathly hahaha

Semi off topic: You like PowerAMP? I avoided it because it sounded like reviews claimed it ate a lot of battery. But Voodoo Sound has renewed my interest in a player with an equalizer.
