VZW Employee available for questions!!

Umm...I'm not meaning to shoot the messenger here. I know you're only stating their policy and you do not make said policy.

With that said, that is utterly rediculous. They force you to activate a phone you know you don't want so they can then render it useless to others without a further chain of custody required. Then they charge a needless restocking fee that could have been avoided by taking the phone back. Here's a thought...if they get the phone back, unopened and it it's original packaging, it wasn't sold.

Again, not trying to give YOU a hard time but that seems effin crazy to me. I guess that's why I go to Best Buy.
I get what your saying, and in most cases i agree with the consumer tbh. In this case I agree with you. But think about it like this. The system sends the phone to be shipped, then checks if it was activated. So thats why it must be. So for instance, say the system doesnt check. and we ship phones, and they never get activated, and sold to someone on ebay or whatever. Now the customer is like, hey I never got my phone..you guys owe me another phone, meanwhile, they are the ones who sold it. If the phone is activated on the number, then you know they got it and activated it ect..This isnt the exact thing ur saying, but thaats 1 reason this is implemented. The old restocking fee rules were:

less than 10m talk time = no restocking
less than 10mb of internet + the above = no restocking
vip customers = no restocking
defect with phone and customer wants diff model = no restocking

I agree with these rules more, however, people in the stores were absuing it therefor it had to be changed.

Isn't this avoided by confirmed shipping? Every phone I've ever been shipped as required a signature. bingo...proof of delivery.

Yeah, that's the thing. No need to activate the phone for verification. It's confirmed by an e-signature, a requirement to receive the phone.

Heres a funny scenario. I had my DInc shipped to my job, because im never home. I work in a complex. They delivered it to Radio Shack down the street...Someone there signed for it...Unfortunately, some fed ex people just dont care, as long as they get a signature. Or physically hand someone a box.

Yea please let me know. If it gets really bad, maybe we can go off the intrawebz here, and maybe get on the phone together. As long as I can verbally verify all your stuff in a normal customer service call, maybe I can help you further. And Verizon Wireless name was founded in 2001 =) so 9yrs is max at the VZW name..Some ppl have been with us before we were VZW but that doesnt count haha

Its funny because ppl come in here like, we have been with verizon for 30yrs..im like maam, verizon was foudned in 2001...thx

It doesn't count? I've had the same number for 20+ years when it was first Nynex Mobile and I interned with the company!
Are you really saying that Verizon doesn't care about my loyalty?

No, but Nynex isnt Verizon Wireless. Yes the company merged into it, but we cant see that. No way to say you have been a customer before 2001 thats all. 9yr tenor to VZW is as good as 20yrs because to us, its as long as we have been around..

Berry2Droid appears to be doing this of his own free will BUT there are "sanctioned" reps from carriers as well as manufacturers who answer questions on 3rd party boards on a regular basis.

"Ask me what you will..." is pretty open-ended and you won't see any of the above mentioned reps saying anything of that nature. They will however announce themselves and answer whatever they can/are allowed to.

I am kind of on the fence if what Barry is doing is in the best interest of Verizon or not. He seems to be up front and honest and states he knows what he can and can not speak of.

However, in one of his posts, he admits he is doing this between customers. ("No problem..gives me something to do when im in between customers".) at work. Any store I have been at there was such a wait to get help, there would not be time handle issues online.

So he is doing this on Verizon's dime, thus they are unknowingly supporting what he is doing. I am sure there are other things Verizon and his manager would rather and expect him to do.

My manager is standing next to me as we speak, reading what I type. If verizon didnt want us blogging or checking out forums, they would block this website, just like they block most websites. Anything relevant to our product, they keep open. Or any affiliated companies. Ive learned many fixed that have helped me in my job. Ie, the moto droid service program, the ##service thing..

just wondering... what qualifies as "vip customers"? is it a certain dollar amount? or time length? or something else ridiculously random?

Interesting that I was never a VIP. I have been with Verizon for years and never late on payments. Plus I have other services with Verizon. Oh well.

Any news about this:
Verizon dropping “Can you hear me now” from marketing campaigns? (Updated) Boy Genius Report

So after another hour on the phone with an idiot csr I finally got through to a supervisor who immediately credited my account for the right amount and is comping my wife an upgrade to an incredible. Count on verizon to make things right :-)

Wow, free inc? Thats awesome bro..Good stuff..see what complaining gets you! haha

yea vip was crap..random crap..

and no havent heard anything about that yet.

prolly change it to "can you droid me now?"

Like I said, not a big deal on the VIP.:)

I think the article state the slogan to change to "Rule the Air." It's definitely better than the "Can you hear me now?" I was getting sick of that one.

Fantastico!!!

At least they are trying to compensate some customers.

Yea man. If you saw the amount of credits we give ppl its amazing. We credit ppl for going over their minutes when they states they didnt wanna pay X dollars for more minutes lol..its actually terrible

You can upgrade a phone after a year and receive full discount but you just miss out on NE2 rebate?

LOLOLOL i thought that sounded crazy. But hey $30 is $30, i was close in what i said they would give you :P

In all seriousness, the manager was very nice and receptive to what I had to say. after my 3 month ordeal I had to voice my frustration to SOMEone. He never made me feel rushed, and we actually shot the breeze a bit about technology in general. He said Motorola promised a phone with a 2.0g processor in it by the end of this year. Wasn't sure which carrier would get it, but he was cautiously optimistic it would be Verizon.
