The call quality is a known, widespread issue. They have a potential solution in the pipeline, and replacing your phone with another DrInc is not a reliable solution (good chance the new one would have similar issues). Why on earth would verizon throw you another $400 phone that won't fix your problem?
How would that possibly create value for the owners/shareholders?
EDIT: I feel for you, if you really need this fixed you can try and get a different phone. Or you can wait till the update comes, and hopefully fixes it. If you still have issues you can get it switched then.
I remember reading about adjusting the noise gate(?) could alleviate the problem. Is that the potential solution?
I was referring to the ota in general (both htc and vzw have reported developing a fix as part of an ota, and users have reported improvement from done combination off thee leaked software). I'm sure there are some things the user can change to solve, or at least improve, the issue. But I don't know specifically what would help.
So they won't replace it if you have a call quality issue, but they will replace it for other defects I assume?
I just got off the phone with VZW - I was calling to see if they could give me anything concrete on when I could see an improvement in call quality.. if that little evrc-b programming thing is safe, etc.
Here is what I was told, in parts, from a tier 2 tech.
1. No idea when the update should happen. They have no guidance on this.
2.VZW has seen no guidance that this update is going to address the call quality issue, and that I shouldn't expect that this update will do anything to help in that area.
3. After I asked for a replacement DInc, the rep checked (took about 2 minutes) and let me know that VZW will no longer replace DIncs for this problem because it won't fix the problem.
4. After my big WTF?!!? and my "I need a phone that works as a phone," he indicated that he is supposed to take my information and call me Monday or Tuesday with VZWs solution to my problem.
5. The programming change to the CDMA settings is a "third party solution not supported by VZW" but "you can make the change at your own risk" and he further said that "if it were a solid solution, VZW would have that as an option for the many calls" they are getting on the subject.
I honestly am a little stunned by this response from them, and may call in again to try to get someone else to verify this. I Have never been told before that there simply isn't a fix, and that they would call me back in a few days to let me know what the fix would be.
Anyone else having a similar response? Was this rep on target?
People...sometimes when you can't hear the other person, it's the other person (read: not you). I've had nothing but perfect call quality on my phone. It's either them, defective phone, or antennas in your area.
So the thread title is false / misleading.
please do not take offense to this, but have you read a lot about this issue? Call quality and dropping IS AN issue they are having with SOME Incredibles. It is not about other people, it is about a problem with the phone. The Verizon person I spoke to this morning was on a landline and even he recognized the problem.
Why is it people with functioning phones have to act like there can't be a problem with SOME of the others?
The title of this thread is hardly misleading. They are not swapping out Incredibles for this issue at this time.
I'm over this.
I'm out folks - sorry that my post was so offensive to so many people. I'll refrain from posting on these forums in the future. Peace out!
Sorry, but brianem is right on that SOME of the observed problems could be on the other end of the line. People should consider that before assuming that the problem is with their incredible.
No offense, but this is a problem with MOST calls made on the phones in question. It is a problem on most calls, which leaves the possibility of thinking you have the problem when you don't, near impossible. Why do people who don;'t have this issue need to suggest that people who do don't actually have a problem.
I'm over this.

i received a replacement today without any issue.
