Wait for Evo or Keep Hero

The Evo looks amazing but to be honest I am not sure that I need that much phone right now. I just got my hero in March and with 2.1 and it being rooted there isn't a lot I will miss by waiting to get the Evo. Not even sure if Sprint has 4g in the Phoenix area yet, actually the extremely East Mesa area of the Phoenix area. My Hero is simply amazing though I still want the Evo. I will probably wait till all the bugs are worked out, the phone is rooted and the dev community is going full swing and of course till my sprint premier upgrade is ready in March. By then the price should be good and the phone should be broken in well.

I'll be getting mine in December since I just got my Sprint Premier membership. I was worried I'd have to shell out full price or wait until my upgrade next year, and who knows what magical devices HTC will grace us with in another year.

I just rooted and flashed Damagless rom 2.08(i think it's called)

While i do not see anything that made it faster(or slower for the matter)

I now have leap back and a lot of new features that I love!!!
So i may wait for the evo at least until my bday Aug 24th
Then again i may not be able to wait

I figure a 600 dollar phone and maxing out my dad credit card shopping
in my new car will be a good birthday gift for me turning 18!

then again i hate waiting so i may just get it launch day

Once the official Sprint 2.1 rolls out, overclocking should become available shortly after. :) Right now, you can download Autokiller in the android market which helps get rid of a lot of the lag.

god yes i remember when i overclocked
my droid to 1ghz

I'd wait. I've had significant annoyances with my Hero. If you're in an area of low signal (like my bomb shelter basement office), the phone is almost unresponsive (and will guzzle your battery) unless you shut off the internet connection. Even with adequate signal, I can usually type faster than it can keep up, and there's no way I'm going to be setting any texting-speed records soon. There are many times that I get between 3 and 5 seconds of ring time before the phone goes to voicemail; hardly enough time to pull the phone out of my pocket, let alone deal with the added UI lag of 1-2 seconds from the time I hit the accept button to the time the UI actually accepts the call.

They keep holding this carrot of 2.1 (with access to 2.1 apps and native CDMA firmware) out there but I'm not holding my breath anymore. And today, my phone quit receiving texts, which led to a trip to the Sprint store and a hard reset. If I didn't have the awesome Sprint employee plan I'd be carrier-shopping right now.

after friday i will know if i will be keeping my hero or returning it and waiting for the evo

lol so many people say it so i want to sayit

ROOT ROOT ROOT

ha but seriously after rooting my hero
it works just like a brand new phone :)
still has minor quirks from 1.5 that
we are used to
the ui lag and trying to speed text and epically
failing

yet a lot of major enhancements that 2.1 SHOULD bring lol

honestly...
I think i may keep the hero...
Im honestly in love with Evo even without physically seeing it

but i wonder
if my device now is on 1.5

and 1.6, 2.0, 2.01, and 2.1 are
all out

what happens when i buy the evo
and im watching literally 4 more generations
of the OS come out and I still have not gotten it yet

yea, this isnt even close. as soon as my upgrade is good ill be getting an evo. the hero is a great phone, but the evo makes it and most every other phone out there look bad. unless there are some serious issues with it, ill get it.
