Root We Need Testers!

I have the Reverb. The file (Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v13.zip) that was posted here looks like it's the same one that I used to root my Rise (For the 2 days that I had it....) It didn't work until I went through the process twice. I can help out if needed. Hours: 8am-3pm. PST

Hit my IRC link tomorrow, I have another root method to try and if I can get it done, maybe a CWMR.

Interloper do you still need a PIT dump? Or anything else you'd like extracted?

If you do I'll see if I can get Heimdall to play nice with my Netbook (Win7 SP1 x32) and go from there.

I'd give it a go on my new workstation, but as is it's only detecting both of its video cards every other boot (I think the builder didn't know that in a dual xeon rig, certain PCI-E slots are exclusively linked to certain CPUs) and it's another Win7 SP1 x64 install anyway.

I went ahead... I'm getting a different error on Win7 x32:
ERROR: Failed to access device. libusb error: -12

I installed Heimdall's USB driver (zadig), all seems to be accounted for in the Device Manager... any ideas? Nevermind, forgot to install the Android SDK, I'll give it another go in a few. Same result... any ideas?

has anyone got root access on this phone? i rooted my OV and upgraded to this is i need my root-needed apps! plus is anyone working on a CWM recovery?

Tyler read the forum. Dataminer that would be great. I'm having to redo my laptop to dual boot so I'll be off until tomorrow night or Monday. For the others who were ready sorry something came up last minute. Just continue being patient. I really want to be careful and avoid any unnecessary device failure. Cheers and out!

I found this but it says that it was posted on August 12th when the Reverb wasn't even released till September 19th so I'm not so sure if I trust it.

That is the root method for the EVO4G. And all the other 1995 posts by writer "Admin" seem to cover how to play zynga card games on every device under the sun. I think at this point we may all agree on SPAM FAIL EPIC.

But, on a more realistic note. After soft bricking AlwaysSmile's Reverb last night we now have an absolutely safe method of continuing to push the necessary files for root access through the kernel. This will allow us to keep working without any more device failures. Tonight is Halloween and I've been asleep a lot today so work on this method will continue tomorrow. If you have been reluctant to help for fear of bricking your phone, now is the time to step forward. Get Odin and ADB setup and find me. Cheers.

Yep that's right!
To be honest I almost gave up on my phone while it wasn't powering on but after another few tests we got it done and my phone is working fine in fact I am writing this from my phone!
Now with the new kernel we will be working for a root!

Nicely done guys!

Does Heimdall actually work with the Reverb? I've tried the #$%@ out of it with nothing to show.

I tried super one click with my reverb too, it killed ADB server then stopped doing everything, im using soc 2.3.3

Big NO to both! Z4 no go too, plus every other zip I have. I've tried everything. Hopefully SCurio at Voodoo is looking into it for us. Nothing on SDX or XDA. Dude that softbricked, what kernel are you using? Is it qmge? Where you be? WE NEED ROOOOOOOOT!
