We want Keylime Pie

Lol the battery use didnt bother me.. more how Google have neglected everywhere outside the US

Defo. In Scotland, we cant set our major world class football (soccer) teams as favourite team and in the few months i used Now, it never sent me a News card even though i search foreign affairs news etc quite a lot :(

When did anything on this forum make sense?

Fact is, even if Samsung say that the S3 is getting 5.0 (which they are saying), Metro PC's and <insert other Random US carrier here> may not get it, because its the US carriers that control what is released and Samsung don't really care, because all those US carriers together make up less than 30% of their S3 Market. The GT-i9300 is where their money is...

Is the thread premature? Probably.
Does that mean it makes no sense? Arguable.
OP's prerogative? Definitely!

To expound on the above regarding KEY LIME PIE,especially for the dual-core/U.S. variants of the SGS III,might wanna start looking at alternatives to official updates:

Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie: Will U.S. Version Of Samsung Galaxy S3 Stop At Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean? | Mobile & Apps

Hmm. Man idk.. i know quad-core is the trend but that sounds like a cop out by Samsung if its true. I cant imagine Google making an android version that needs quad-core tbh..
Having said that, if i was in the US, id have rooted and custom romd my s3 by now anyway

Even though the their different dual cores (A9 vs A15), a big indicator will be if the Gnex gets 5.0.

Aye youre right mate. Just googled it lol its a Tegra quad :)
Maybe then.. what about the phones with Intel chips.. arent they all single core?

A similar issue surrounded the PHOTON,more on the type/make of processor than the # of cores,or at least that was a possible theory being floated around, among many,as to why the PHOTON never made it past GINGERBREAD 2.3.5,despite being promised by MOTOROLA on their very own site.It was actually a selling point,no less....

Yeah, you could root & ROM,but, unlocking the bootloader broke 4G WIMAX.

At least the SGS III will continue to see development for quite a while, well beyond JELLY BEAN.

Yeah defo. One of the good things about having a popular mainstream phone i suppose lol itl have a lot of dev support. Plus its powerful enough to handle anything thrown at it for a few years :)

Phone manufacturers ought to be held liable for situations like this which are essentially false advertising. Photon Owners should have gotten a discounted upgrade or some cash- it really annoys me that they seem to get away with this. :(

Agreed- the S3 certainly doesn't seem to miss a beat running JB- also love the fact that the US versions have 2GB of RAM...now if I could just wedge in that Quad core processor... ;)

Lol thats the question.. whats gona be most needed in the future, more cores or more ram :) right now nothings pushing the international or north american s3s near their limit. Things like the One and s4.. its gona be YEARS before theyre really pushed! Saying that though, who knows whats around the corner lol :)

2GB of Ram is huge. I only ever seem to be using about half of it on my Nexus 4. I actually think the reason why some of these phones aren't pushed hard is because there's so many people out there with lower spec or old phones that wouldn't be able to run many apps if they actually used the potential of some of these newer devices.

I'm sure that's part of it- developers want their apps to be available to the widest range of users possible-

Yeah the devs dont want their apps to be in a niche market, most peoples phones are nowhere near as powerful as the s3. Games are probably whats gona push a phone the most.
Ive usualy only got about 100Mb free on my international but ram has never been a problem yet. Theres probably a LOT of apps cached in there and as they say, free ram is wasted ram ;)

Well, they actually did....

They offered $100 trade-in credit towards the PHOTON Q, a QWERTY PHOTON running ICS.

Yeah, people ran to take that offer in droves......
