Welcome Huawei Ascend users!

I wonder exactly what 2.2 will give us over 1.1 besides multitouch

Supposedly:

1. Android 2.2 has more speed and performance optimizations

2. Android 2.2 has USB tethering and Wi-Fi hotspot functionality not found in 2.1
3. Android 2.2 allows for app installation to the memory card while 2.1 does not
4. Android 2.2 adds Flash 10.1 support absent in 2.1
5. Android 2.2 has a lot of modified and added APIs
6. Android 2.2 improves support for Microsoft Exchange over 2.1

There's a new poster who has an Ascend who just posted in Introductions. I gave him the forum link but thought I'd let you know to be on the lookout for him. He's 503Droid or something like that. LOL

Anyway....just a head's up.

Hmmm....Just saw this before I left and I have wondered if the release of the new IDEOS X5 and X6 might affect the Ascend getting the 2.2 upgrade.

Here's what they are reporting about the Samsung Vibrate:

Rumor: Original Samsung Vibrant Froyo Update Being Purposely Held Due to Vibrant Plus

Wack, but then again, the keyword here is rumor

I hope so! Btw...in answer to your question on the other thread - I'm pretty sure the Ascend would use the Linux version of recovery at XDA

I got a favor to ask all the metro users who have rooted there phone. can you guys dail the *228 and see if when you try to get the latest roming list will it update or tell you you have a problem. thanks in advance

Maybe it means the update is already available. It wouldn't surprise me at all if it is and Cricket doesn't even know it!

The definite answer is that when 2.1 was released, there was a bug. The update, which is 2.1.1 was an update to fix the bug in 2.1 . If it were actually the froyo update, then it would have said 2.2.1, not 2.1.1

You forgot it will enable remote wipe. P.S., the Ascend might not get flashplayer, kind of like the mytouch 3g didn't receive flashplayer with its 2.2 update
