Welcome Huawei Ascend users!

Hey Guys!!!

I am rooted, with TB, Junk removed, I even have Juice Defender which is actually working very well.

I am reading a lot about SetCPU, but I also read how it can shorten the life of the CPU? I would like to have it just because of keyboard lag, and sometimes the phone can be slow, like today, I had a missed call, I dropped down the little notification window, tapped on the person who called and it took like 4 to 5 seconds to take me to the screen where I can either call them bacl, text them, and son on. Is SetCPU that worth it?

Hi NY! Glad you made it over here! ;)

I like set SetCPU and most everyone I know is using it. Nothing you do to the Ascend is going to create a DRAMATIC change but it does help to increase the speed. It's up to you.

I think the thing that has made my Ascend much more enjoyable (over anything else) is LauncherPro Plus.

It's awesome! :)

Indeed, I have LP, but not the paid version, I need to check into that, but as for SetCPU, what would be the straight up MOST SAFE, and most useful Mhz to overclock to?

I know it's safe. But I don't know if it's the MOST SAFE or most useful. lol

It is the one I know MOST users here are using. And not just in the Ascend forum, but everywhere.

Damn $1.99 =\ for SetCPU unless, someone has the apk =D

PS...If I were you I would upgrade to LP+, if you like it. The developer is a bit quirky about the 'free' app and there have been some big probs lately with free version, but not the pro.

I don't change the minimum and maximum sliders. I just change the scaling option. I use ondemand so when I need power, it automatically increases my speed and when I don't, it decreases speed, like when my phone is in sleep mode. When my phone is plugged to an outlet, I set it to performance. At school, I set it to powersave

Once you have a few of these rather basic paid for apps, you will be set and you'll have a great phone that is comparable but much less expensive than some of the elite phones.

2.2 is supposed to hit soon and then you will have to change some things back so that you can upgrade but all the info will be here at the Huawei Forum.

Hi Joser! Thanks. I was wondering about that. I left my minimum alone too. :)

SetCPU configures the speeds at which your processor is capable of achieving. You ca't set it more than 600 mhz, so it is safe.

I was wondering how updating to 2.2 and so on would work, is it like ipod touches? You just restore, and then rejailbreak with the new firmware...same for the phone? kind of? well, you know what I mean :P

LOL! You read the "locked" thread on LauncherPro? That was before Joser and I became good friends here.

He wanted me to d/ld LP and I didn't want to. Now I don't think I could live without it. I have the LP+ and I would recommend if you are going to keep LP to upgrade because the dev is a little bit strange and you never know what he's gonna do with the free version. I hear that GO Launcher is another really good one.

I still am using the stock music player but I have Power Amp, which makes it SOOO much better and Pandora radio, which I like a lot.

Sorry I can't help with the music player.

Out of curiosity why do you think the stock launcher is better for widgets than LP or another launcher?

I like the 7 Home Screens on LP and my widgets all work great!

LOL I convinced you

Unlike iPod touches, the update is not done by connecting to a computer. The most common (called OTA) is when the update just pops out from your phone and you just press button. Sometimes the manufacturer has you download the update from the Internet and have you put it in your SD card, the you install it. I think the latter would be for the Ascend because it has an option for SD card Software update

With Android, you do not need to restore your phone to receive the update.

You sure did!!! LOL

It took a lot but your persistence paid off! :D

Let me just clear something out. I was't trying to convince you to use it, I was helping you with the wallpaper problems you had, which were the reason for why you uninstalled LP.:D

lol I hope you have learned a lot from me and I'm happy you are using what I taught you to help others, so i don't have to write as much! LOL:D

I've learned just about everything I know from you, Joser! About my phone, that is! LOL

Thanks a bunch!!! Did you see the new topic I created with the Step by Step Rooting?

:D

Joser...you know what I think would be extremely helpful?

If you could create a new thread called: Troubleshooting the Huawei Ascend

And you could put some of your very useful tips in there.

:)

Adriana, I'm not familiar with all the apps on the MetroPCS but someone should be able to help you with this question soon.

In the meantime .... you can remove the game apps, photobucket, documents to go, your stock keyboard (if you have one you like better), any other app you have you don't use with the exception of the following:

Nothing you THINK has anything to do with the system. Like the following:

Browsers
Email Apps
NOTHING with the word Google in it (Google Talk is an example)

Also, remember to backup any app first before uninstalling it.

There is a Forum called "All things Root" where you might find a better answer to your question.

All Things Root

Why would someone want to delete youtube :P, and actually easy wifi is ok to delete too. It will not break your wifi

If you have a Huawei Ascend phone, this is a good place to post your thoughts and questions and ask for help.

First please look through the threads to see if your question has already been asked and answered.

Then, if not, post here or start a new thread in this forum. Be sure to say who your carrier is: Cricket or MetroPCS.

This is definitely the best way to get help for the Ascend!

;)

wont download apps. says starting download but not downloading. help please
