Great news, just got my MO PHO today & held off on purchasing the BLUETOOTH keyboard & HD DOCK for this very reason.Once the price drops a bit,may just get two of them, one for work & the other for home use.

I am in for one. Is there a difference between the Motorola Lapdock™ 2.0 as listed on Sprint's website and the Lapdock 100 you mention? As soon as I figure this out, I am ordering one!

The Verizon version is selling for $299 and the ATT version is selling for $199 after a $100 mail in rebate.

Update: I just ran into a post on ATTs site, saying that their Lapdock requires the tethering plan. Anyone know if this is the case with Sprint also?

I don't think you need one on Sprint. At least it did not say so in the order page.

Speaking of order page, Amazon also has it now, but it states ships in 3 to 6 weeks. But if you can wait that long then maybe it may be cheaper if you consider shipping chargers.

As for the listing of 2.0 on the Sprint site, I know, I noticed that as well. but the picture looks the same as the Lapdock 100. But that doesn't mean anything.

If you are a Premier customer you can use your Premier discount (which end in Dec) to order the lapdock. That's a 25% discount, which translates to $125.00 $187.50 instead of $250.00. But the catch is you have to do it at a Sprint store.

I went to the Westbury NY store here today before I found out this bit of news and they had no idea what the lapdock was. Did anyone even go to the training?

Therefore I am going to the Sprint Corp store in Flushing NY with a print out of the lapdock off their website and order it with the discount.

Lets see if all goes well and I hope I'll get it before my trip Friday.
If not, the Bionic lapdock will do until I get back.

similar boat here. well, here is what i posted on the moto forum..

<--- had a similar experience. went to the sprint store around the corner with the hopes of checking it out and getting some face time with it. they didn't have it. better yet, they didn't even know what the hell i was talking about. lol.

so after i show there where to look on the website, they said "OHHH"....and then proceeded to tell me they didn't have any in stock. they also checked around and there are no stores in the San Antonio TX area that apparently have one in stock. so, ok...WTF?

the good news in all this is that they would sell it to me for $199 instead of the $250 (don't have a clue why either) and they said they could have it in the store by friday.

Well, that's Sprint for you. I am heading to the local Sprint tomorrow, I expect to find the same thing. I just hope to be offered the same discount, after all att is selling it for 199

I may wait on this, just to see if the price goes down a 'bit. It's not something I "need," since I already have a laptop, but it would allow me to keep my laptop at home and just use as a dedicated PC. With my birthday coming up, this may be another present I decide to give myself...LOL.

I'd love to get this, but I am planning to use my (final) annual upgrade next year.

What are the chances that there will be some sort of universal hack that would allow me to use it with another (possibly non-moto) phone?

Are there any 3rd party vendors that are working on a more universal option? I might even prefer a tablet dock like some people have speculated the samsung nexus galaxy optimus prime might be getting.

1-If i am not mistaken, purchasing the Lapdock has nothing to do or affect your annual upgrade. its an accessory not a phone so it shouldn't affect it.

2-Currently there is no way to hack it to work on a non-motorola phone. the webtop is so interwined (from ready up on it) that I 'm surprised they got this far. maybe if the source code was release by Moto, then maybe the xda guys can figure something out. But currently only on moto phones.

3-Unless Motorola licenses out the webtop, I do not see any 3rd party manufacturer making a lapdock solution.

A little observation if I may..

I received the Droid Bionic Lapdock that I bought off of ebay and all I can say is wow. Slick thin, light and it works with the Photon. Loving the webtop and being able to use my phone while browsing the web etc in a bigger screen. If the lapdock 100 is like this, I am so much going to be happy. Once it comes in in a day or two, I'll take side by side pics.

Wow, just wow. This is the future.

TS...I both love and hate your reviews. Love them because they're always thorough, but hate them because it pushes me towards impulse buying...LOL.

I know that once you and many others on here get their lapdock 100, I'll likely bite the bullet and go buy one too...hahahaha

lmao, My mission for today is complete lol :p :D ;) muahahahahaa

Whats funny is that the Droid Bionic lapdock was really not that expensive, but since I wanted it here like yesterday, I talked to the ebay seller to agree to ship it almost overnight and I paid the difference, so it came out more expensive overall. Now if the Lapdock 100 comes in tomorrow or Thursday, I'll keep that one as well. Even though the screen will be a tiny bit smaller than the Bionic one, I feel that both me and my spouse can benefit using these lapdocks instead of our laptops.

I plan leaving my spouses phone unrooted and stock to use one of these lapdocks and on mine I'll be updating it to use Ubuntu so I can really see how far this thing is capable of. So far its awesome. Word has it that there is a small bit of lag, (i have yet to experience it), but then again I'm not overusing it tonight. (Tomorrow will be the full test of using it all day). And that lag is due to just one core being used. If the xda folks or even Motorola updates the phone to utilize that second core while in webtop/dock mode, then this thing will surely handle anything thrown at it.

I hope I have time though, with my trip just 2 1/2 days away, I hope I'm able to update my phone, install Ubuntu, do either Logmein or Citrix Receiver to connect to my home pc and go where no man has gone before. lol

btw, while typing these posts, the lapdock initiated its screensaver. lol That freaked me out.

Odd that you ordered yours after I did and They still haven't sent it to the store. Are you getting yours sent to home?
Btw, how are you tracking it? You got a tracking number? Would that be on the reciept?

LOL...Awesome. Probably would've freaked me out too, not knowing there's a built in screen saver. Motorola, IMO, really has a handle on the right accessories to offer for their mobile phone customers. Just by comparison, aside from "looks," the Motorola specific accessories I've purchased for the Photon (HD dock and car dock) have blown any HTC specific accessories I've purchased, for the Mogul, Touch Pro AND EVO, out of the water!

I seriously might make a stop at the Sprint store tonight and pick up a lapdock now. Did Sprint come out with their dry install screen protectors specific to the Photon? That might be the 2nd accessory I add in order to get the 25% off.

Well I didn't order it through telesales cause I wanted to get the premier discount. I just called up the store and was given a hard time. First time that has happened. Anyway, she couldn't tell me anything but that it hasnt come in. No way to track it that route. So i doubt the stores have it yet. Im going to call regular customer service now and see what they tell me.

What I meant was, when I upgrade, I may not end up with a moto phone so I dunno if I can justify the purchase if I can only use it for a few months. Thus, my follow up questions :)
