What 3G speeds are you getting?

My speeds are horrific as well. My speeds are around 700-900Kbps in Northern Virginia/DC. No 4G at my home or office. Which is why I have a real problem paying that $10 fee.

My coworkers on verizon are rocking at over 2Mbps on their DROIDX's and Incredibles. If Verizon 4G arrives at my home or Office before WiMax.... I am leaving Sprint

I kind of live in the boonies but I get 1113 dl and 700 up... I am very pleased. Of course i use wifi at home anyway.....

These are my last three results from Speakeasy.net/speedtest. I'm in my appartment building in Phoenix, AZ at 8:28 local on Sprint 3G.
This is pretty much exactly what I get all the time. 1.5 to 2.5 megs down. Couldnt be happier. :)
Last Result:
Download Speed: 2091 kbps (261.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 602 kbps (75.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Last Result:
Download Speed: 1599 kbps (199.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 630 kbps (78.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Last Result:
Download Speed: 2477 kbps (309.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 594 kbps (74.3 KB/sec transfer rate)

Thats 3G? I dont get those speeds until I drive into a 4G area! (the 4G near here is 3-8Mbps depending on how deep I am into the area.

Yea.. thats 3G (there is no 4G in Phx, yet). Your 3-8 megs is pretty good! I cannot wait for that! Sprint and Clear are supposedly testing a dual system of WiMax with LTE (4G) in Phoenix right now... and should be up by the first of the year.

Well I only have 3 bars at my house right now and I got .57 mbps down .18 up. Normally I will get anywhere from 800 kbps to 2000 kbps. 4G though kicks ****ing ass. During peak hours I'll get about 4.5 mbps, but I ran the test earlier today and I got 9.9 mbps down 1 mbps up (capped). Oh, this is from Raleigh NC

i used to get up to 3.0 mbps down until they turned 4G on here in Orlando, now I only get around 1-1.5 mbps max. I wonder if they throttled the 3G speeds to the Evo and Epic to encourage users to use 4G and keep the 3G data open for other types of phones.

4G results in Woodbury, MN......

I had no idea 3G was this fast.

I am getting 500kbps up and down on average for most places I've been.

However, I get over 1,000kbps up and down when at home on 3G.

My 4G speeds vary, but I think 3000kbps is average down, and 1000kbps is the average up. My highest download rate was 8,250kbps using 4G. I'd like to find a 10mbps area...

I suppose it's all shared bandwidth right? In the same place that I got 8,250kbps, the next day, I would get 4600kbps...and on and on.

Maybe if I am out at midnight, I can see some stellar speeds...but how useful would that really be?

When I first got Sprint and got my evo...I was getting download speeds anywhere from 1.2mbps-2mbps. Sense then, I they have either been working on the tower, or it has been having problems as of late. I know am lucky to even get 0.5mbps at all even during the middle of the night.

this summer i would average 9-12m down on 4g but now i am lucky to get 3m i talked to a guy at clearwire and he said the system is maxed out too many people on it my 3g speed is from 700k-1m no problems surfing and such here in atlanta

I have been having major issues here in dallas. no connection or extremely slow. upload will be fast...download slow or the opposite. 3g or 4g. over the past 5 days I have had the issues, and poor phone connection, and been able to send mms.
very disappointing

I don't know what to make of my speeds, really. When I first got my phone, which was a bit more than a month ago, it seemed as if surfing the net w/3G was plenty fast. As of last week, and I'm not sure if this is a coincidence but.. my phone fell from about two feet or less onto an hardwood floor. This caused the back to pop off and the battery to fly out. Needless to say, my stomach dropped.

Put it back together, and saw that it didn't have a scratch on it. Turning it back on, everything was normal. That same night (I was working/restaurant) the phone somehow popped out of my apron and again, onto the floor. Less distance, and nothing became unhinged. BUT.. ever since then, it seems as though my connection just isn't the same. Is it a placebo psychological effect? I don't know, but all I can say is that before the incidents, I remember Dolphin Browser being able to load this forum (I clear cache and cookies and history when exiting) a LOT faster than it does now.

That's when I decided to download the speedtest.net app. Problem is, I don't know if it's the app which is totally wonky, or the network or the phone.... My speeds are all over the place, and for the most part very poor.

Sometimes I'll get something like 70kbps DOWN but will always get a few hundred UP. Then there are times, if I do the test enough (in the same position/location) when I'll get almost 2Mbps DOWN and 1Mbps UP
I figured that since I live in NY (Long Island City, not to be confused with Long Island) my speeds would be fantastic, but I'm feeling let down, and not sure if it's my fault or what.

Current speeds, in my apartment (LIC):

Ping: 129 ms 436 kbps Down 199 Kbps Up
"" 112kbps Down 167 kbps Up
114ms 122kbps Down 223 kbps Up
149ms 159kbps Down and hahaha.... 16875 kbps up lol (yeah, I'm thinkin' not real accurate)

Now a different server. Newark NJ
Ping 74ms 479kbps Down 206kbps Up
Ping 217ms 563kbps Down 178kbps Up

Back to NY server
ping 211ms 221kbps Down 545kbps Up

Now 4G speeds
Ping 110ms 5.83Mbps Down 1.04Mbps Up
Ping 111ms 8.12Mbps Down 1.06Mbps Up
Ping 111ms 9.69Mbps Down 0.96Mbps Up

So sure, my 4G speeds are great most of the time, but that is to be expected IMO. It kills me that my friend with her Droid X consistently gets between 1.6 and 2.0 Mbps in my house with Verizon/3G.

And stupid me didn't get insurance but meant to.. unfortunately, they don't care about "meant to" and wouldn't grant me insurance 3 days out of the 30 day period. So now if it is an hardware issue, I pay.

i just got that a while ago...im using htc evo on easytethering and its on 3g...and best of all its free.

That's quite literally impossible on 3g IMO. First make SURE 4G is off, then run the test a few more times. If anything, the Speedtest.net app is WAY wonky. That speed looks to match or maybe better some people's cable broadband! Heck, the fastest I've even gotten with 4G is 11Mbps

@doug: i dont know brah. I always use 3g on my evo cuz im worried about battery. I was just experimenting on easytether...anyway i only use 3g really...

I think your having the same problem as me. On my old Hero I use to get great speeds here at work (atlanta ga). Now speeds are slower. I went from getting 1.5 to 2.2mb down to being lucky to even getting .800mbps.

i used to get up to 3.0 mbps down until they turned 4G on here in Orlando, now I only get around 1-1.5 mbps max. I wonder if they throttled the 3G speeds to the Evo and Epic to encourage users to use 4G and keep the 3G data open for other types of phones.

I think you're on to something there, and its the only logical thing I can think of to my slower speeds now on the Evo. My coworker has a Hero and his speeds are always decent (+1.5 mb down), I'll be lucky to get even half if that. But I think that's what they did, and even tho i get 4G in my work location it still works like crap in my building, frequently disconnecting. Lose lose for me.

Down 0.15Mb/s
Up 0.08 Mb/s
is that good ? i look at you guys and looks super high compare to mine
