Root What AOSP Rom wouod you recomend for stability and speed?

No roms "need" a2sd, but it is nice to have. OCN is right, you need to read the OP of whatever you are flashing. There are 4 Ice Cream Sandwich builds floating around right now. Evervolv, Jaredthegreat, deck and a new guy called the bakery (or something like that) all have builds available for download on XDA. They're a different beast and are not even in beta testing yet, so things like camera and a2sd don't even work. Most anything else is going to be a gingerbread rom unless you start digging back aways to the froyo stuff.

Is there a link for the decks 1.3 gingerbread version the only one I see on the DL page is the ICS version.

Again sorry for my complete ignorance and newb questions. SO flashing would be as follows.

nanodroid backup

factory wipe

flash decks Rom
ROM][ICS][4.0.3][12-17-11][WIP] ics-deck-evo [pre-alpha8]

is this the right ROM????

Flash Gapps (where is this link???) The rom seems to be the ICS

restart phone

Wipe cahe and dalvik cahe (Flash Taimet)

Flash a2sd Script
Version 2.7.5.2-1 - http://www.darktremor.info/files/a2s...2-1-signed.zip

restart phone

Thank you for any help!!!!

that looks about right. once you have everything setup you might want to make a final nandroid backup and maybe delete the previous one.

and as far as clocking your phone and profiles go, i would use the one built in and not use any profiles. i find that it works best if you use the smartass governor which has a screen off profile built in and that is it. you can use setcpu and set up profiles if you like, but i find them not necessary. having too many profiles can be counterproductive. it will just make the phone not sleep very well as it has to monitor your profiles.

for me with cm7 and the tiamat kernel with my max at 1190 and a min of 248 and smartass governor, i was getting 18-30 hrs with moderate to heavy usage and my phone was very fast.

How long has it been since you flashed it? Remember to give it about 3 days to fully settle in. Lots of people have good luck with Tiamat 4.0.6 or SavagedZen 2.2.1. SZ is sbc only though, there is a tool somewhere to flash and toggle sbc off, but I don't have a link.

Here is the SZ link though. I think there servers have been down for quite some time. It's not actively developed anymore either.

Its only been a day....ill wait....debating though if it doesn't work should I try an SBC version

When flashing an AOSP Rom do you always need to flash the dark tremor file and run terminal emulator if you wand a2sd???

Does the GPS fix work for all AOSP Roms or just deck's!!!

Yes, it should. I've ran it on 2 or 3 different AOSP ROMs with success

When flashing an AOSP Rom do you always need to flash the dark tremor file and run terminal emulator if you wand a2sd???

Only if the ROM doesn't have a2sd built in, which most do I believe. If you open terminal emulator, you can type a2sd check. If you get an error about not being able to find a2sd, then you'll need to install it. Don't forget to "su" before running a2sd commands, I think you'll need superuser permissions for all of those.

Whether its being used or not by default, i think that depends on the ROM(?). I always do it manually anyways to be sure, but it never hurts to do as suggested before and reinstall it -

a2sd reinstall

Then move dalvik/cache to sd -

a2sd cachesd

I just flashed Deck GB 1.3. rebooted, now no keyboard. I'm wiping cache and dalvik and installing a different gapps in case that was what was wrong.
Any ideas anyone?

could be a bad flash or a bad download. wipe dalvik cache and cache and re-flash the rom, if the wiping dalvik cache and cache does not work.

Thanks Ocnbrze.
I double wiped and re-flashed Deck and got an error message that wouldn't let me out, something like "android install has failed" and it kept trying to force close but wouldn't close. I booted into recovery, turned on the USB option, grabbed MikG off my laptop, used Superwipe 2X and got rid of everything Deck.
Back in Sense happy land now :)
This was my first ASOP venture. I'll try again someday after I know more. If I understand correctly I need to flash gapps, a wifi fix, as well as the ASOP rom?

I like Decks ROM but my girlfriend and I have had a lot of problems all of a sudden. I have to press my power button several times to unlock the phone and we are sometimes not connecting to the cell network after turning off WiFi. I think I am going back to CM7 #256. It's a shame because I used to not have problems so IDK what's going on anymore with it as I have tried everything.

Weird. Did you check the md5 to make sure the download was good? That's too bad it was giving you trouble.

I'm still a relative root n00b and this was my first time flashing an ASOP rom. Operator error is definitely not a possibility I'm ruling out. I'll give it another try after I do some reading to be sure I'm flashing the rom, gapps, wifi fix, kernel and whatever else is needed in the correct manner and order.
Thanks.
