Just finished The Quantum Thief by Hannu Rajaniemi.

A bit on the complex side, lots of terms and abstracts thrown around that were a bit difficult to grasp-- the book makes you work for it-- but overall a good read, if you are into high-minded science fiction.

I will likely read the sequel, but I will wait for the price of the book to come down... I need to digest this first novel and then reread it again before I dive into a second one.

Thanks for the suggestions I have herd of Joe hill before ill look up that book. Have you read it yet gmash

Yeah, I've read it, it's pretty good. Aging heavy metal musician buys a ghost from eBay on a whim. I don't think it's too much of a spoiler to say he regrets to purchase lol.

He also writes a comic book series called Locke and Key that's pretty spooky.

Just bought, Light My Fire - My Life With The Doors, by Ray Manzarek.
Can't wait to read it. One of the very first LP's I bought (showing my age here) was LA Woman. How things have changed since Jim Morrison's era. No CD's or mp3's or indeed mobile phones in those days. I wonder how many AF members have never seen or owned an LP?

Has she got any by Magazine - frontman Howard Deveto? He left Buzzcocks to form Magazine. The Correct Use of Soap, was one of my favourite's at the time...:)
These days, I like Muse, The Killers, Coldplay etc., but old time favourites are Queen, Pink Floyd and of course The Doors..:)

She says it sounds familiar, but she can't say for certain...

Just finished Bring Up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel.

It is historical fiction documenting the fall of Anne Boleyn from the viewpoint of the King's Secretary, Thomas Cromwell.

I've just finished Glass Houses by Rachel Caine mine is in a omnibus

So the first one has Glass Houses, The Dead Girl's Dance and Midnight Alley
I am now onto the second book and I am hocked.. The first book you are so cripped but you feel what Claire feels... it's not like any other vampire books you read... so I wanna read more now

I am in the middle of rereading the Max Freeman series by Jonathon King.

Just bought 3 new releases;
Hidden Order by Brad Thor
Eye For An Eye by Ben Coes
Let It Burn by Steve Hamilton

Shadowrun 5th Edition rule book...just came out this morning in PDF format. Will be buying the print version when it comes out in August...

Caught The Hunger Games on Netflix the other night. Whilst the film was a little meh, I was fascinated by the story behind it. I picked up the 2nd book and I'm currently going through the first chapter now.

The books are well written, though surprisingly 'children's literature', the kids do enjoy it.

Okay, surprising to some, who feel kids shouldn't be exposed to violence, et al, but that is just a fact of life, and children are exposed to it, in the movies they watch, television, etc.

Yeah. You'd be surprised what kids are capable of reading...

Ever read The Wizard of Oz? The book was read by ten-year-olds when it came out, yet I know adults who had trouble with the vocabulary...

Then there is Lewis Carroll...

They're supposed to be kids books? Wow!

Maybe it's just me, but I found the quality of the story deteriorating as it moves to the third book.

As for what I am currently reading, does this count?

What is this ... "reading" thing you keep bringing up ek se???

whahaha! :D

xD

Today everyone just talks and it does everything for you... in fact they (super genius scientist guys that bend time space with their eye lids) say they has gotz a new idea in the thoughtz or somethungs that will even think for you so we don't even have to do that in the future!!! :)

Yay!

I agree; the third book kind of sucked, but it was nice to have the loose ends tied together so one can walk away from the series and be ready for something entirely different.

Actually, I found the second book a bit trying too hard, then the third to be just bah!
