What changes do YOU see with Froyo 2.2?

Didn't see this mentioned in the first thread, but... HTC Multitouch keyboard!!! Hell yeah!

Yeah I noticed as well that the new stock keyboard is multitouch. However I do prefer the layout of the DroidX keyboard to the stock keyboard. Wish there was one similar to the layout of the DroidX keyboard, I really got used to using it.

Hi,

For those who haven't noticed yet: the screen timeout and lock timeout can be set separately in Froyo.

Settings > Display > Screen timeout
Security > Lock phone after

This is a small change, but it was a huge annoyance!

Nice catch.

The brightness settings have been acting up (not switching to a brighter setting in sunlight) since my install, and the brightness control in Aldiko appears to be borked. Related?

Flash 10.1 is my favorite.
Being able to go to Fox.com (or whatever other station website) and stream whatever episode on demand is SWEET!

Now all we need is the Silverlight plugin for Android that Microsoft was all-but promising (2 years ago!) so we can stream Netflix!!!:D:D:D

for some reason i do not see this under security
but my phone still locks when the screen goes off

really strange

It's not actually the screen lock. It is the phone lock. In addition to the pattern lock, there are now options for PIN or password.

When you turn on your screen, you still have to do the slide the bar to unlock the screen. If you have security set to lock the actual phone, you can set it to delay so that you don't have to do it every time.

ah ok i just use the screen lock i never set up passwords or phone locks

Got it last night. Much more responsive now, but battery life has not improved. Unplugged it at 0700, and now at 1300 (6 hours), I'm down to 20%.
About 3-4 hours of this time was spent playing Air Control Lite, and not using the network.

Is it just me or does the GPS update rate seem faster? I was using the navi (google) today and it was moving much smoother (and faster) than before.

Also, the navi lady seems to have had too much coffee... she's speaks at light speed.

I don't see this anywhere. Since dx keyboard is gone, an htc alternative would be awesome. Please show how to enable this.
It's just the default keyboard. Long press on any text field, select "input method" and choose the "Touch Input" choice which is the stock HTC keyboard.

Yeah just setup Chrome to Phone as well and looking forward to using it quite a bit. I have noticed that Launcher Pro loads up selecting widgets a lot faster.

if i remember correctly this has something to do with the new protocals for app managment in 2.2

does that mean it's supposed to do that, seems like it would be more of a reason for me to now use ATK or something. Can't imagine that will improve battery life. but those developers are smarter than I am so maybe it somehow works and it does improve or keep battery life status quo.

Crazy how right after a reboot all the apps startup automatically.

What is this 'enhanced 3G icon' business I hear about? The icon looks the same to me...

The icon "3G" is a different type of text. Thats all I've noticed. The text is more round now.
